My Elise is mainly street-driven, but I'd like to hit the track 1-2x/yr. It is currently totally stock, but with Hawk HP+ pads.

Questions:
1) Are the HP+ decent for track? The fronts are due for replacement before tracking anyway, so wondering if I should swap to something better all around.

2) Is high-temp fluid necessary for occasional track days?

Sorry for the likely naive questions. The last time I tracked was with my '11 M3, so I'm not sure what is necessary on a car with almost half the weight, lower peak speeds, smaller brakes, and better weight distribution for braking.

1. HP plus are decent for the occasional track pads although I personally dont like the initial bite. Really depends on your experience level and brake expectations.

2. Regardless of track experience high temp brake fluid is a MUST for track days. Flush out to new high temp fluid before event.
2a. Its also a good idea to flush brake fluid after the event if you boil it at any time.

Thanks. The HP+ seems a little grabby on the street and are a bit noisy and dusty, but acceptable for a compromise pad. Just was wondering if there is a better trade-off pad that's worth swapping to.

I'll go ahead and flush in some SRF.

I have no experience with HP+, but I liked the Pagid blues for mixed duty and used them for years before switching to something more track focused for track days.
I'm still using the blues for the street.
