Can Elise steering rack be rebushed?

My symptoms are slight clunk when suspension is moved up and down (wheel and shock removed). Seems to imply play in the end bushings. Can they be removed without destroying the rack and replaced. I have resources to make bushings. Other than this annoying noise, steering feels perfect and has no play whatsoever.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I think I have the same issue.
