SSR Type - F 16x7 +32 17x8 +35 4x100 ! Get on it!

Hey Guys. I know there are a few threads across the board regarding the SSR type-F's and concerns over fitting issues, so I wanted to start a new thread with some new info .

I just spoke with Tanabe and ordered my type-f's. specs:

16x7 +32
17x8 +35

In flat black (additional $100 per wheel, but 16x7 already comes in flat black , so no additional charge for that pair).

Tanabe just received news from SSR japan that they now offer a 17x8 +35, which I believe is perfect and flexible enough for those who want to run a 245/40/17 and a 255/40/17 (available in yokohama A048's). I believe the 255's are $75 each tire cheaper than the 245's on tirerack.com

SSR still offers the 17x9 +25, but I believe the limit on the rears is probably 17x9 +30.

Here's a picture of Mat's car with Toybox48 Hethels in what I believe are 17x9 +35 ( they only make +22 and +35 for the rear) with a 5mm spacer.

SSR also offers a 17x7.5 +35 4x100, which Tanabe actually has in stock right now in their USA offices. That's pretty much an oem wheel size for the rear or possibly an option for the front if you want to run 17's.

Right now, SSR Japan has 17x8 +35 in stock. They just need to be shipped over, which will take a few months. The catch is they only come in titan silver. they can paint to any color (if they offer that color for their other wheels) for an additional $100 per wheel.

16x7's come in flat black as well, so no additional charge if you are looking for flat black.

Good luck. These will be bad ass

This is something I might be interested in. What is the ETA of the wheels? Do we have to order first or are they shipping them over regardless to sell?

Unlike other wheel companies such as Mackin who import and stock quite a bit of wheels in the U.S , Tanabe usually does not stock wheels. They stock a few , but I wouldn't bank on it. And even if they did, it would be in the standard titan color.

They are imported in large containers by sea and should take about 3-4 months. Remember, they have to fill up a container with a satisfactory amount of orders and also build wheels and build custom ordered wheels, so its possible it could take longer. If you catch them near the end of filling up the container and the wheels are readily available in Japan, it could be sooner. Either way, patience is key and wheels from Japan will take quite a long time and should be expected. Just transit and customs clearing alone will take at least a month from experience.

the 16x7's retail for $450 each.
17x8's are $535 + $100 (for painting) each.

You don't have to pay shipping if you pick up, but if you're in Ca, expect a sales tax.

Prices will vary depending on exchange rate at the time. I'm in the industry and know a few guys at Tanabe, so I do get a bit of a discount. Contact Tanabe or a distributor and see what they can do for you. I might buy an extra set or two as I know most are skeptical without seeing the wheels on the car. however, if I sell them, I would probably ask for full retail or bit more simply because the wait is so long and I'm willing to take some risk of holding onto them. Either way, these are cheaper than toybox hethels and Rac Monolites.

Right now they have in stock in SSR Japan 30 pieces of 17x8 +35 and 8 pieces of 16x7's. That's only 4 complete sets. If they have to build them, it will probably take much longer as I'm sure they get quite a bit of orders for other sizes/styles etc.

So.....has anyone taken the plunge and ordered a set? Keen to see how they would look on an elise/exige?

I'm contemplating ordering a set but wanted to know....if anyone has attempted to run a 17x9" +25 setup. The type F comes in a 'deep face' for the 17x9" which would look quite nice on the rear not to mention fatten up the rear end abit more.

it was meant to show the offsets. These wheels have the same offset as the toybox wheels.

the rear wheels should be the same. I don't think the fronts are though.

Would anyone happen to know what tyre size the white exige is running? Or better yet, is there a thread or anymore info on that car? Keen to see some more pics of it from different angles. I'm assuming it is not tracked with rims in that spec??

go to "go advanced" at bottom of page. Then under the text box should be "manage attachments." when you click and window opens and browse to upload your photos. Then on bottom of window says close. then type whatever in text box and post.
