The adjuster is not removable and will have to be masked for paint. I assume it is the same as the old design with two posts projecting into the plinth, hopefully with two screws holding it in place. The pre V6 plinths only have one screw holding the adjuster and mirror onto the plinth. With the two halves of the plinth bonded together, there is no way to take it apart.

Put these on my car years ago and love them. They help with blind spots more than the originals. I did paint mine body color.
