Universal LED Tail Lights

Got started on these this winter but I finally got around to posting pics now that the car is clean, haha. Found them and connectors on superbrightleds.com for less than $100 all in. I had been looking for something specifically in the '06 style because of the clarity when they are off - the '05 lights always struck me as "foggy". They are far from plug-n-play but they look how I wanted and could blind you when lit up!

I like the black surround. What a coincidence they're the correct diameter.

The black is my least favorite part, haha. But it fits with my other black trim well enough that I'm fine with it.

And yeah, the holes are 4", so that's a nice, even number and a few different applications use it. I had to make studs for them to bolt in though, so I wasn't lucky enough for that AND diameter to match

My phone camera is on the fritz, so it's hard to get a clear pic. This is an older one before I mounted them:

Here's the link. There are a couple different styles, too, all around $10-$15 each. Not perfect, but damn good for the money.

Not too bad - you cannot beat the $$ and lord knows they're MUCH lighter than stock!

I'm actually more partial to these though:

Looks like someone plunked them in a first-gen MR2 in the gallery

Only concerns are that they look a little too "crystalline" and where/how would you plunk the white reverse light?

For the reverse light, see my first post. I'm using an LED license plate aimed outward. It's very bright, so it serves its purpose and isn't noticeable when off.

And yeah, I didn't weigh them but they are noticeably lighter than stock.

They have a clear plastic version also that light up red or amber. Can put a light tint film on it. Would look badass on a gray or black car.

Awesome thread, and great solution for those who don't wanna spend $1000+ on led tails that are wayyyyyyyyyyyyy overpriced. Will definitely try these out when I get another Elise.

I think this looks surprisingly good. Might do this on my black Elise. What would I need to buy besides the lights?

I bought the pigtails for a few bucks, so then I spliced those into the factory harness. I also had to epoxy screws to the backside of the lights so I have the same attachment style as OEM. Lastly, I wired up a simple reverse LED beside the license plate lights that shines outward instead of downward like the license plates lights. All in was under $100 but it took some fiddling.
