The black top doesn't look good IMHO. Even if you had other black areas (not talking about the carbon "Bandit" rear clam area, which is awesome) it still looks like "patchwork". It's why I did my whole cockpit/hatch/top in black where it wasn't carbon fiber, to blend it against the other color (Storm Titanium). I'd post a pic but photobucket recently became a scummy company that won't allow me to post my own pictures where I please.

You must be happy to have her back in the garage. Have a good weekend.

I think the car looks SEXY!!! I am absolutely SOLD on the color!!!

You can't even really see the purple pearl in it...which is crazy. It is literally JUST the right amount of dark with the right amount of silver. I hope you don't mind, but I am going to "copy" you in color. I admit set up will be different, but color will be the same.

As for the top...I can see San's point of view...but at the same time I know that Top will be an amazing experience to drive with it on all the time. I almost jumped on the one here in the forums...kind of sad I didn't, and at the same time I know if I had, I would never had been able to do the turbo build I am nearly done with.

As for the wheels...I say LEAVE THEM SILVER. Looking at the car now...changing them I think will due lack luster to the car. Leave them silver...that is my vote.

Mine won't get painted for almost another year...need to decide on a wider rear end or not first. Debating on the need for 275 rear tires with the power I am going to be putting out.

Looking forward to finished photos (aka clean car photos).

Envious of how well it came out.

IMHO unless you have a black car you can't match the poly roof color - AND it's blue tinted so you really need a blue-black car because the color comes through. 80% of the time I'm driving completely topless (the car silly) so no biggie.

That being said things are slowly coming together. I need a new windshield and am waiting for my CF surround to arrive from Japan. You should see the size of my spreadsheet checklist!

ETA right before Thanksgiving.

Yes. The original polycarbonate one I had was from Percy's and I had to cut/trim/sand it myself AND use matte black vinyl on the outside to hide the edges. It's really beat up now. Several vendors now offer ones that already have that integrated border.

My original stock rubber surround has seen better days. I have a a carbon fiber one from BSK that's been on order since May (!) to apply on top of the polycarbonate windshield to complete my look. Carbon Fiber seems to take forever and has crazy lead times...

WOW is all I can say...man i am telling you, easiest way is to swap me tops, paint mine to match yours and i will deal with the off coloring of the poly top.

So when do we get full body shots in the sun...I am absolutely in love with the color. However i like your idea of blue pearl instead of purple, so i think i am going to go that route instead...or green. I have seriously been on a massive green kick recently.

More progress

Notes:
  • Side sills are going in very last. Have to run reverse camera wires / oil pressure/temp sensor wires and install full carpet first...
  • I just plunked the stock taillights in the rear (held in place by the top nut for appearance). I'm waiting for the real ones in two weeks...
  • I know my muffler isn't sitting straight on the hangers and I have to clean up my NEW tip because it's all scratched up
  • The license plate is just sitting on the diffuser and black Gorilla tape is holding the entire thing up for the mockup duration...
  • Finally I'm still not sure what rear end treatment to use... open (and if so what support?) / mesh / other?

I am in love, thanks for letting me eyeball your color before I paint mine...makes my life so much easier for choices/decisions on paint color.

In terms of rear panels...My vote is the Challenger grill...it was custom made by one of the forum members here...I don't believe it would be to difficult to do. I have never been a fan of the "naked" rear end...so I will end up doing the same on mine after I am all said and done.

The only difference, is that I will have a custom dual tip on my turbo exhaust.

I've had FOUR different Challenger Grills on the back in the past 12 years:

2006: Chotto's original with through diffuser exhaust (stock diffuser)
2008: Modified Chotto so it would work with BOE ClamHinge (stock diffuser)
2010: Small diamond mesh grill (right exit BOE Silent Touch exhaust, stock diffuser) (see pic below)
2012: Large diamond mesh grill (right exit BOE Silent Touch exhaust, BOE flat diffuser)

and now I'll do...

2017: Small diamond mesh grill (right exit BOE Silent Touch exhaust + 4" tip, Reverie flat diffuser)

which will look a lot like this...

If you can still see everything thru it, why not leave it open? Save some weight!

The mesh is directional. The one in the picture allowed visibility downwards. When I redo it I'll flip it 180 degrees so that it's more opaque.

I'm also going to knock the gloss finish down to satin (Flameproof VHT SP115 will work wonders) so it's not shiny.

And the entire grill assembly weighs 1.16lbs. Try finding a rear treatment (that is ClamHinge friendly) that weighs less than that. Not easy!

So True...I need to remember what kind of mesh I have to do mine with...my whole car will get the Mesh grill treatment, so that when I am done it all looks "finished" and completed from the factory.

I really like the Chotto look, it gives you flexibility when it comes to exhaust options, and is clam hinge friendly.
