Hey Dark,

How many grams of violet pearl did you have them mix into the base coat?

Also, what do you think of the idea of having a green mixed into the base instead of violet? It is the direction I am looking at, and I figure you will have a really good idea at this point what it would look like.

I am thinking like this type of green:

Ok I'm 99% done - and I drove the car (to the gas station) for the first time in 22 months this evening!
.
  • Full carpeting installed
  • New poly windshield installed with urethane and rearview mirror
  • Stock surround attached "temporarily" since I'm waiting for CF piece...
  • Relocated red security LED (and Bluetooth radio microphone) to bottom of rearview mirror
  • GRP front haloes installed to match rear COB lights
  • Created simple (12oz) "bar" rear license plate holder that's ClamHinge friendly

Enjoy!

You must be happy to have her back in the garage. Have a good weekend.

It all depends on the lighting. This car is a rollercoaster is shading and color!

I know that the rollbar cover, rear clam and doors are the EXACT SAME COLOR but since the angle is different - the shade is different...

BTW car is at the tint shop right now:
  • XPEL Pro on front clam
  • XPEL Pro on lower side sills
  • XPEL Pro on headlight covers
  • Lightest tint available on turn signals to "knock down" brightness
  • 5% windshield brow
  • Clean old (2006) tint residue from side windows

I won't know until I get up on the BOE scales but I'm guestimating:

1666 lbs. empty (755kg)
1731 lbs. full gas (785kg)
1744 lbs. full gas + Visium hardtop (791kg)

Last weigh-in in July 2015 yielded:
1707 lbs. empty (774kg)
1772 lbs. full gas (804kg)
1798 lbs. full gas + stock hardtop (816kg)

Weigh in before that was January 2013:
1792 lbs. empty (813kg)
1857 lbs. full gas (842kg)
1883 lbs. full gas + stock hardtop (854kg)

My delivery weigh-in September 2005:
1872 lbs. empty (849kg)
1937 lbs. full gas (879kg)
1964 lbs. full gas + stock hardtop (891kg)

I'm HOPING that I reach my goal of 100kg (full+hardtop) weigh savings (891 - 100 = 791 kg)... I'll find out actual weights in a few weeks... I need an alignment and corner balancing badly as well.

Of course RevX / BWR tranny and other goodies are coming that will negate achieving that 100kg weight savings goal but the addition of another 100hp or so should put my mind at ease

I'd say you've already reached the 200 lb goal. Wow.

She's back from the tint shop!

I can't even SEE the XPEL Pro on the car!

Check out the Uber-Light metallic tint on turn signals that matches CF headlight enclosures PERFECTLY!

She's now at my friend Manny's place getting detailed and getting ceramic pro coating applied... she'll be back in five days...

Talk about a chameleon color - looks like regular Graphite Gray in these photos!

Sorry for the crappy picture quality - I was in a hurry last night!

Looks Great!

One question. Would it have been advantageous to have the car detailed and ceramic coating (sealer) done before the xpel install?

Oh no no no. The way I understand it is that NOTHING will stick to the ceramic coating, including XPEL... so the XPEL goes on first.

There was basically no paint correction required underneath the XPEL since it's brand new paint.

EDIT: She's done! Coming back tonight!

She's back home

I have a handful of little things to do, most importantly replacing/servicing my battery (which seems to have given up the ghost) and to find the cause of a REAL slow 0.7psi/day air leak from my driver side rear tire.

Enjoy the shiny pics - I'll have daytime ones soon!

Are you going to look into installing a wing on it again, or leave the back end OEM?

The only wing I'd EVER put on her would be the original GUT wing - in CF of course... good luck finding that though...

I'd install it like @Dave did with his yellow below with NO base plate/hanger pieces... I'd also add CF reinforcement pieces underneath so the pressure on the clam wouldn't make it crack

I am really surprised to see you are still using the factory stereo and speakers. Getting rid of them and installing block off plates would shed a decent amount of weight for free.

I remember seeing the Orig GUT and just falling in love with it...But then I got one.

Its funny...I had it sitting on the back of my car for about 4 months, before I did anything to the car that, at the time I couldn't undo, and sadly it just didn't work for me.

I have come to the conclusion that the OEM SC spoiler in CF is the only one I really like...not sure why, but I honestly think its because it follows the body lines the best...it will be awhile, but I will post photos when mine is done.

Nah it's CF GUT V1 or nothing. V2 and V3 do nothing for me.

The last picture is of a forum member who's car went across highway lanes into oncoming traffic and died a few years ago. IIRC, they thought the removable steering wheel came off. A Texan, IIRC. Tough to see this picture.

Oh no no no. NOTHING is stock with the exception of the wires that go to the stereo and speakers.

Current state is:
  • 5.25" Infinity speaker in the front (molybdenum magnets) & JC mounting ring
  • 6.5" Lanzar speakers (molybdenum magnets)
  • Digital Pioneer stereo MVH-X560BT (had to replace stock mounting "cage" as well)
  • Alpine KTP445U amplifier

Saves 3.433 lbs. over the stock tinny Blaupunkt setup and it has 10x better sound. I added an aux jack and USB port in the tray under the HVAC as well as having Bluetooth streaming and routing a microphone under the rear view mirror for making/taking phone calls while driving.

I'm aware of that and he will most definitely be missed. I stumble along threads that he used to post in and it makes me quite sad. However, it does NOT change the fact that his car was absolutely gorgeous.
