Wirewheel experiences

I'm curious any negatives or positives/things to consider when looking at cars from wirewheel vs other cars out there? The salvage brand scares me a bit but I am looking for a car I hold onto a long time and enjoy so not as stressed about resale/insurance. Let me know if this isn't an ok thing to ask or should have posted elsewhere.

I think a lot have bought cars from Wirewheel here and I haven't seen any kind of negative posts in regards to it. They seem to really take pride in their work.

Hayes at WW is a true Lotus enthusiast; just about every post here on LT about them has been a positive one, you won't go wrong dealing with them.

For what it's worth, a well done rebuilt still grows in value, albeit at a discount to a comparable clean title. A few years ago rebuilts were in the high teens and just barely cracking the twenties. I know you aren't worried about resale, but it is always nice to logically justify a superfluous purchase

I have purchased both a 1970 TVR, and a 2005 Elise (clear title). Was very happy with the purchase experience.

2006 Laser blue Exige
2005 Starlite black Elise SOLD
1970 TVR Vixen S2
Enjoyed and sold many other British sports cars.

My car, which is my 2nd Elise, came from wirewheel. Car looked great after the repairs! I didn't buy directly from him, but wouldn't hesitate to at all.

I've been lurking or participating here on LT for awhile now and have not seen a single bad thing said about them other then they are in Florida and some of the west coast people wish they were closer for shipping. If anything, I see people selling their rebuilt title cars make a point they are ex-wirewheel cars because Wirewheels have such a great reputation.

Yeah, the consensus here and elsewhere seems to be that they are fair, credible and do excellent work.

My Wire Wheel salvaged Exige.

No complaints whatsoever. Well, maybe one. Hayes wouldn't budge on the price.

Cheers.

To add to the chorus - I've been on LT for almost three years and never heard anything but praise for WW.
If I wasn't in Cali, where there are lots of Eliges for sale, I would have bought from them.
Why take the risk of purchasing a rebuilt title from an unknown seller?
Even WW"s clean title cars are reasonably priced.

Purchased my 06 Elise from Hayes last year. I've known him for 25 years but this was my first purchase. Extremely happy. Interesting tidbit. He has sold over 50 Elise / Exige cars over the years. Just because of the sheer numbers, he and his team have more experience than the local dealer. I trust him fully.

They know what their doing. Just purchased my car from them earlier this month and have yet to have any problems... I believe Hayes mentioned selling over 100 Elises over the past few years and I have yet to read any negative reviews, so if that doesn't qualify your repetition, I don't know what does.

They had 8 at their location when I was there, which was quite a sight to see. Probably more than some entire states haha

Hayes and his family are great people! The support motorsports in it' true tradition. You should not have any concerns purchasing any car from them! I wish I had the cash to buy that forced fed 380 as that is super unique!

I agree with all of the above. I bought my elise from him in October 2015. I actually found a car at a local dealer 300 miles return policy and all that jazz. I still bought from Hayes (again, even though he would not budge on price) simply because I trusted him and would stand behind the car. In fact when I stop in from time to time he still looks the car over to see how I have been treating it. My wife can attest to the fact that I look at his site almost daily for my next toy.

Wirewheel

I sold Hayes my TVR and later bought a salvage title '05 Elise and everything was exactly as described. Great car, great company, great person.

Hello all I'm hoping to be in the market for an 2005 or 2006 Elise in the next month or so and I really appreciate the feedback provided here because i have been seriously considering wirewheel Elise. After reading several LT threads about wirewheel, it seems like the prices are not very negotiable. Is it worth considering purchasing a car site unseen? Does anyone have experience purchasing from them with first seeing it in person?

The reason I ask is I'm in Michigan and driving it back isnt a great idea in February. I'd like fly down for a day, check it out then ship it home. It could save me around $1k if I skipped the trip down to Florida.

Interested in your thoughts!
