Sounds like Wire Wheel has a great reputation. One thing I noticed looking at their site is that most of the Elise cars for sale have rebuilt titles from clam damage. Can someone explain this ?
Cars like the elise/exige are commonly "totaled" by insurance companies rather than repaired. Many shops didn't want to work on them because of the added efforts and not having prior experience. Also many insurance companies would rather write a check and close out the case. As a result many of the more exotic cars get totaled for very minor repairs.
I purchased my elise from wire wheel a couple months ago. It was a great experience. Originally I wanted to make sure I bought a car with a clean title. After visiting them and learning about some of the repairs, their operation and their reputation I wouldn't hesitate to save some money up front and buy one with a rebuilt title from something like front or rear clam shell damage. In fact I spent a lot of time debating between two cars, one with clean title and one with a rebuilt. In the end I couldn't pass up the chrome orange so I spent more on the clean title car. It really was the color that sold me. I would have been just as happy spending less on a properly repaired rebuilt title car.
