I'm downsizing and selling the house. Time to sell the toys. Price reduction on the 1965 Lotus Elan S2: $35K

See video I shot today of this car:

My friend Chris (who owns an Elan S3) came over to drive my S2. Great day in Princeton for back road sports car driving! He commented how the original suspension set up really allows this car to be driven very nicely on any road condition.

I have to say the rotoflex donuts spook the heck out of me. But then again so do the rear drum brakes in my Europa!! If they are in good condition (no cracked rubber) then this is a great vintage survivor. I need another year for finances and I am knocking at your door.

What a gorgeous car. I'd love to have an S1 or S2 Elan, but no space for it at the moment. Hope you find a buyer!

Will consider a trade for a low mileage Elise.

Bump.

I have been driving this Elan a fair amount, but I just finished my 72 Europa 2 year restoration and now have three Lotus’ in my garage.

Just returned from LOG39 (where my Europa won second place in the concours). Lot’s of Elan’s in the North East (well, to me more than 12 is lots).

A number of people are interested in my S2 Elan, but everyone needed to sell a car before they could buy this one.

Nothing drives like an early Elan. That is why Gordon Murray, the designer of the McLaren F1 has one in his garage and states it’s the best handling sports car ever made.

These cars are shockingly good: Handling, ride, braking and with the right engine, fast.

Decade or two early compared to other period sports cars.

I never thought I'd sell it, and kept it after I bought Elise.

Clearly, the best classic British sports car.

Revelatory, just like the 7 I drove.

You will not tire of an Elan. (speaking of which, it has a large trunk and full-size spare...)

You might owe it to yourself to have one.

Elan was more revolutionary than people know or expect. And, YES, the best classic British sports car.

I finally installed the period radio into the dash. The black blank plate always bothered me so I installed the (non-functioning) radio. I think it looks much better than the black blank.

It was 92 degrees here in Princeton today. In October! Fall leaf colors and hot weather. Perfect day for a top down sports car drive

Couple of interested individuals in buying the S2. I know what will happen, one of them will pull the trigger and the others will be upset they waited too long (recently one person drove a long way to see it and go for a test drive but then said they couldn't afford it. What the heck...…that makes three people who have done that and 2 that are waiting to sell a car before being able to buy).
