BMC 6 (The 6th Annual Bear Mtn. Cruze)

The date: Sunday, September 17 @ 8am.

This year, this event will be open to only Lotus people AND friends of Lotus people. We will not tie up with any other group. I believe this event is more fun and more intimate this way so it is not open to the general public. I have this posted as an private event on FB so I can keep a tight tab on the number of folks attending. But not all people use FB (and for good reasons) so I have created this thread.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS SOME OF THE WORDING HAS CHANGED OR DIAL 0 NOW AND WE WILL CONNECT YOU TO THE NEXT AVAILABLE REPRESENTATIVE (don't hold your breath).

Like last year, we will meet at the Lake Welch Parking Lot in Harriman State Park. I will post a map for those who don't know or don't recall the Lake Welch Parking Lot.
We will do the typical routes we have done in the past for the morning then our usual run up to the Perkins Memorial Observatory for the obligatory Photo Op!
And then at 1pm (always my favorite part of the day!) we will head up to see Geoff @ Barnstormers BBQ for lunch and libations (bring on the Chili!!).
For those who are up to it, the after lunch ride will be a few passes through the Storm King's picturesque curves! If you haven't seen this road, you should do it at least once. Steve took Todd last year and if anybody is interested in joining Steve on this afternoon jaunt, I suggest you talk to Todd first!
Last year we had a really nice showing and we were able to split up into 3 groups which I thought worked out pretty good and we will do that again as needed.

Please show up promptly and with as full a tank as possible. Have a walkie-talkie at your fingertips if possible. A "navigator" is always nice. No, it doesn't have to be a Lotus. Yes, I will supply my cell if you need it, just send me a message.

See below for the link to our starting point which is in the Lake Welch parking lot.

Geez, so early in morning!

I will try to attend.

(When my fellow LOG caravaners kept wanting to wake up early, I was forced to ask: "Am I traveling with Lotus owners or roosters??"

Gil,

The reasoning regarding the early start is that the roads are more open with less traffic in the early morning making the routes more enjoyable.

You can always join us at a later time since we basically use three roads primarily, Kanawauke, Tiorati and Arden Valley Road before we head up to Perkins Memorial around noon time.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Lee and Everyone,

I am not a lotus owner but is looking to get into one. I would really appreciate the opportunity to meet some of the tristate Lotus owners and talk to you about your cars. This seems to be the perfect opportunity but I understand it is a lotus only event.

I've done bear mt runs with other clubs (NSX, Mini Coopers, and others) and really love the routes.

Simon

Hey there KingKongLotus,

Well, as anybody on this forum would say "just buy the damn thing, you won't regret it!".

But seriously, you would be correct, this Cruze would be an excellent place for you, meet the people, see the cars and I'm pretty sure you could ride shotgun with somebody for a spell and experience what these cars are meant to do. So for you, we will make the exception. This event is for Lotus owners or friends of Lotus owners so we can say that we're friends!.

For any questions you might have, feel free to PM me.

That is great Lee!!! Thank you!! I would love to experience the twisty roads in a lotus!!! Looking forward to it!

For drivers going up, anyone coming from long island, NYC, or Westchester area? If yes, perhaps a caravan to Bear Mt?

Hey All.

The weather projected for Sunday is a high of 80, partly sunny/partly cloudy (depending on what site you check). Chance of rain is around 15-20%.

So overall, not bad but it is still early yet.

Now it's time to pray to the weather gods...........................................

Will it be postponed if it rains, Lee?

Hey Toan,

I'll probably make a decision Saturday afternoon whether to cancel/postpone or not depending on the weather forecast.

I'll post on FB, LT and Lotus Pals if I decide to cancel/postpone. I will try to do it early enough so everybody has a chance to see the postings.

If the weather forecasts is like it shows now, I won't cancel/postpone.

I guess the postpone date would be the following Sunday, Sept. 24.

So keep on praying.........

so it looks like our prayers have been answered.

a high of 80, partly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain.

it's been that consistently for the last few days.

so we are on, the BMC 6 will go as scheduled.

C U there!

I'll be there, Lee. Prepping the car right now. Was going to show off my new digital gauge cluster from Garw, but of course with my luck I received a faulty one. Will be installing the OEM back in for tomorrow.

If I had notice of this before Labor Day, I would have surely joined you!

As it was, I met car folks at Mcloons Boathouse in NJ for brunch and car fun. Eclectic mix- 70 mini (rhd-made in s africa), 66 Eldorado convertible, 64 Stingray convertible, 53 Citroen Traction Advant, and my 67 Sunbeam Tiger.
I believe I passed Lee on my way up Perkins Drive late this afternoon. I hope you all had fun.

Nice day to exercise the cars!
