FAST CARS AND FASTER MISSILES: Charity Car Show 2: Nov 3

________________________________________
To support OUR TROOPS, and to honor the 6000 active duty men and women serving our country at our historic Vandenberg Air Force Base, I am organizing through my role as board member of the Ferrari Club of America an Exotic Car Show featuring ALL exotic cars: Ferrari/Lotus/Lamborghini/McLaren etc. at the MARSHALLIA RANCH GOLF COURSE @ Vandenberg Air Force Base on Saturday morning, November 3, 2012.

All exotic cars are welcome to exhibit on the first fairway at the Air Force Base's Golf Course in a beautiful valley setting along our central coast. There is NO CHARGE to participate, we just need you to DONATE YOUR TIME and put on a great show for our troops.

It's an easy and scenic 2.5 hour drive from L.A. About 130 miles from the San Fernando Valley, past Santa Barbara, near Solvang. The event will be held from 11am until 3pm, so easy for all participants to arrive on time and get home easily. We expect a HUGE turnout.

Free wine tasting will be provided by some of the Santa Inez area wineries, barbeque lunch will be available featuring Famous Santa Maria Tri-tip and the Vandenberg Rock Climbing wall will be holding climbing races!

Vandenberg is a very historic installation, having launched the world's first Intercontinental Ballistic Missile and the world's first Polar Orbiting Satellite.

If you would like to participate, you MUST sign up. Details, directions and a signup form required by the Air Force will be sent to you.

To sign up, please reply to this post or email me with your car model and details, and I will contact you with the formal signup process. More info will be provided closer to the date of the event. YOUR PARTICIPATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Very interested. I've got a number of friends in the area, including a few who live on/near base. Will know when the date gets a little closer.

For those who may be concerned: If you're planning on wine tasting in (or just visiting) Solvang, it's very Lotus friendly. Lots of nice cars in the area, and I've parked my Lotus in Solvang plenty of times.

I'll probably go. I'm retired Air Force and don't need to sign up as I have valid DD Form 2. It expires when I die. 2007 Lotus Exige S.

Great to have an AF vet join the party! Actually, everyone needs to sign up because there is a liability form to fill out stating we won't hold the government responsible if a missile destroys our cars......

Sign me up then. I've seen the hoops we have to go through before we can target something. I'm not worried.

I'd be lying if I said I knew, but it's somewhere it California.

I used to work for the 50th Space Wing when I was in the Air Force. 22nd Space Operations Squadron.

That said if you want to go let me know.

"Missiles" is spelled incorrectly in the flyer just FYI.

Sounds like a fun event!

Thanks, good catch. We also caught that but I posted the wrong version. It will be fun, and also a very good cause.

I'm in. Hope this is not the same weekend as SoCal Euro.

Cross post this in Nobleforums.com and see if you can get some of the NorCal Nobles to come down. There are a lot of them up north for some reason, but not many in SoCal.

Thanks! I will cross post the Noble forum as suggested. A few Nobles will be outstanding. I will post a signup list a little later. If we can get 10-15 or more Loti it will be great. Hoping to get 75 + cars total.

I might be interested in that. I'm still cleared so I might be eligible for a different tour. Ask if base billeting is available.

Jim - Have you contacted anyone with Santa Barbara Cars & Coffee? They have some the most amazing cars I've seen at meets, are all local to that area, and are big into charities and side trips to show/drive their cars. If he doesn't remember my name, I know he'll remember my car. Monte is the guy in charge (or at least, he was), and runs the newsletter, so I assume he also runs their facebook: Santa Barbara Cars and Coffee | Facebook sbcarscoffee @ gmail.com

Really good local crowd up there.
