I'm definitely planning on attending. I guess the question I have is...if I'm 45 minutes away is there any reason I would want to stay in the hotel vs. driving up every day?

Do you like to drink? Hang out until pretty late?

That kind of thing. I live close, but have my hotel room.

Cool having the entire hotel to our group.

The best part of LOG is and always has been having a beer in the parking lot until 2-3 AM hanging with our fellow enthusiasts...I'd say get the hotel...

Bringing them BOTH in a two-seat Lotus are you?

But, there are no activities for kids at LOGS, sorry. They could join us at the Concours or go along (in another car) on the scenic tours, but who would watch them during the dinners/banquets? Not fair to the kids IMO.

Provisions have been made for childrens meals, but for the most part the event is an adult affair.

This is what I'm thinking, but which nights? Both Friday and Saturday?

It will be well worth having a room so you don't have to worry about going back and forth, but if you are on a budget 1 hour is reasonably close and you should be able to attend everything and commute back and forth from home.

I just booked the hotel. This will be my first ever cross country drive..and especially in a lotus I am a bit nervous..but I know the car will make it..longest drive I've done in the car was last year to Log 35 with a side trip to Yellowstone (5000 miles in 2 weeks). We are planning this trip to be 3 weeks with around 8500 miles..Anyway, I hope others from California are coming too and if not..maybe I can meet with some caravan on the way..I feel like there will be at least one. Maybe Randy Chase will plan something.

You should start your own Road Trip To LOG36 topic. That's what we do on the way to out-of-area LOGs.

There were several LOG34 caravans from the northeast to Asheville that year.

Pick some potentially interesting Lotus back-roads on the way! Travel safe.

I love 15 minutes from this event and bought my first lotus (2005 Elise) 12 days ago. Think its a sign that is so close. Gotta go I think.

So what track events are people going to over the LOG weekend? I know there's nothing officially scheduled but is there a group going somewhere to exercise their cars?

There are no track related events directly related to LOG36. Lotus Limited are sponsoring an HPDE at Watkins Glen in June for those interested - https://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f96/...2016-a-361257/

There will be plenty of driving opportunities over the local roads and Atwell is diligently mapping them out as we speak.

Two bakers within 15 minutes of the LOG hotel.

Cafe Vienna, 200 Nassau St., Princeton; (609) 924-5100. Small, cozy cafe that opened on Princeton's main drag in April. Cakes are made with old family recipes; the owner, Anita Waldenberger, grew up in Austria. Recommended: the flourless chocolate cake; cheesecake; and the strudel, with oodles of apples. Oh, and great coffee, too.

Sugar + Sunshine, 6 Market St., Plainsboro; (609) 936-3777. I first visited Sugar + Sunshine six years ago, and still haven't found a better chocolate cupcake. No preservatives or artificial ingredients, and you have to love a bakery that makes this promise: "You can be sure that the cupcakes and cookies on our shelf weren't there yesterday.'' Good coffee, too.

N.J.'s 20 best bakeries: The only list you'll ever need | NJ.com

Anyone have any other must eat destinations that are close?

Having been to I dunno, 20 of them, what I have to say is this:

GO!

Show up on Friday afternoon and leave after brunch on Sunday

Stay up late until they close the lobby bar, and finally kick you out

And yes, drinking is more or less half the point, so even if local, get a room.

In the same vein, Triumph Brewery, Nassau St., Princeton. Very well crafted home grown beers. Food is more than acceptable too. Triumph Brewing Company

Just cancelled my reservation at the Marriott, so there is one more room available.
Was really looking forward to it, but something else came up.....
