I think that they would be ruled legal at this point, but I think that's different from the clarity of their purpose. They're pretty obviously an aerodynamic item, with air flowing over both sides of them, making them a winged surface by the definitions in the rules. Now, arguably, by the definition in the rulebook, your whole car is a wing, but it's just not nearly as clear cut as I would like. Saying that it's open because it's attached to the clam is like exploring the grey area about what forms a canard. If I make a small bump on the sides of my clam, is that a canard? When does it become a canard? etc. etc.

I see it more as the front facia of the car.

Here is a picture of my wing with a big wing on the back from this last weekend.

I have knocked around the idea of flares but I've had enough people tell me not to do it as it looks stock and won't make enough of a difference to be worth the effort that I think I may let them slide. For now anyway.

Still waiting on bogarts and the hard top but should have them both before nationals. Worst case I will yank the hard top from the turbo car and plastidip it and run these ethos wheels.

I am not sure either after a cursory going over the rules, but it appears on your car you are doing a similar deal, or at least in the pictures I've seen. Any thoughts?

I see these as part of the wheel flares especially on the ones Matt built that are actually part of the flair.

Ryan, this topic was created in 2013 when I built the original polymetal splitter that you've seen. Were you trying to reply to the fender flare topic?

Anyway, I will not be at spring Nats. I will however be able to take lots of pictures of things if you want.
Yes I was referring to wanting a set of Carbon Fiber Flares. I'd take a set in fiberglass as well if you'd build them.
