Data Capturing Software/Hardware

I would like to record telemetry etc at my next AX. I have an android phone (I also have an old Iphone 4) as well as a go pro with suction cup mount.

I see a number of people with nice Gforce overlays and RPM counters etc. What do I need to make this happen?

Thanks!

Last time I looked into this, Harry's Lap Timer was the most popular option, and I think it has features to integrate other data streams.

This probably needs to be my next project, way past time for me to start some data logging and review.

I have seen cool results from Track Addict and also Solo Storm.

To get the RPM info I believe you will need an OBDII to bluetooth adapter.

I think almost all of these softwares can use your Android phone's GPS, but work best with an external GPS sensor. Similarly they can use your phone's camera, but work best with something like your GoPro.

One of our local guys just uses his iPhone and a mount with Track Addict, and his results are fine for such a quick/easy setup. He set it up in my 240SX during a rallycross, here's a video:

Another of our local guys has a dedicated tablet for Solo Storm, bluetooth GPS, OBDII, and even a custom rigged steering angle sensor, among many other things. His resulting videos are excellent. He likes the tablet rather than the phone because he can view his runs immediately on the larger screen. Here's one with his codriver from earlier this year:

Hope that helps!

Small world, I know Luke from Rennlist.

I use Solostorm, GoPro, dedicated tablet with OBD2 feed for TPS. RPM I don't care about since I can calc it with MPH for the rare times I care. Not a cheap system but the only thing I've ever used that truly has helped me find time between autox runs and coach people I don't actually get to ride with.

What a minute - 07 Exige has TPS coming through OBDII? Which PID? Or maybe a simpler question- how are you getting it?

OBD2 port with an ELM327 bluetooth dongle (cheap ebay one). SS allows you to re-calc:

I use Harry's Petrohead Lap timer with the Ram X-Grip mount. Harry's has the ability to bring ODB II data and puts it on the lower right of the video as well as allowing you to export the data. It also allows and external camera and GPS. Bluetooth is used for these external inputs.

Here is a recent video without the ODB data. This is from a Motorola G using its camera and GPS.
