Exhaust finish panel delete in SSM?

Been pouring over the rules for SP and SM and searching the forum, and I can't really tell just yet... Can you delete the exhaust finish panel to facilitate installation of non-diffuser exit exhausts (ex the BOE ST-5 exhausts or the VF exhausts)

I found the following bits that seem rather ambiguous but may allow it:

Allowing removal of heat shields in SP (could you consider the finish panel to be a heat shield?)
Allowing mods up to 1 lb to allow fitment of parts in SM

Thanks!

I did it and nobody seemed to mind in grid.

No but really, look at 16.1.I. It says that rear facias may be modified or replaced. Pretty straight forward IMO.

What I want to do is put a cover on the diffuser to block the non-utilized hole that the exhaust use to go through.

Is that legal? I need to look it up but I vaguely remember some ST rule saying that you could cover unused exhaust cut outs.

Well, after a quick perusal of the rules, I don't see anything that allows for a cover to be placed over that hole.

Oh well.

Well I'll be darned, totally looked that over. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hmm, that diffuser hole - extra cooling?

You know... If that cover is under 1 lb you could probably argue for the cover being okay under 16.1.P.

Except that it's an additive process and can indeed be argued to add a performance benefit in that it makes the diffuser slightly more effective (maybe).
