Mfactory one cost me 650 or so brand new......works perfectly. ...less risk. I too also thought about the eBay one.

2005 Elise, Graphite Grey (soon to be nightfall blue), Ohlins DA, VF2 SC, Volk wheels, LSD, and pretty much everything else on this lemon.

Trick question! The worth is not described in dollars (or sense!) but in fractions of a second on course.

I know that LSD is > no LSD, but when you can buy the quaife... Anyways I better get my old OEM trans pulled apart and sell the LSD unless someone wants to buy it as is with busted 3rd.

Fix busted third and sell the trans? I want to tackle this in the fall bit I hope to pick up a whole trans. That way I have a spare or can sell the old one to recoup cost...

It is a fair bit of work to rebuild these involving purchasing about $500 in tools and around 8 hours BOOK time to rebuild so that is a non trivial endeavour. Plus the parts that I need are nearing the price of a whole new toyota transmission so its only worth it for someone who alreay has the tools and maybe some of the parts, and/or wants an OEM lotus transmission vs the much cheaper toyota.

I bought the used one from the same Ebay vendor through spyderchat.com. Can't recall his user name, but the same advertisement can be found on that forum.

Helical diffs are pretty stout, usually. Either they work or they're broken and not much in between. I took mine apart when I received it and was glad that I did - apparently it had come from a trans that had been damaged. There were bits of aluminum scattered throughout the diff - though, there were no signs of damage to any of the diff components.
