Mods and 2014 SCCA rules

Going over the 2014 SCCA rule book with my list of current mods to make sure I'm still in SSP class. Maybe I'm reading to far into it or getting tired. Somebody please square me away.......

What I am finding vague:

Sector V2 arms + shims removed.
Rear toe links.
Rear window replaced with Kevlar panel (could claim the car is no longer in production).
Catch cans (part of emissions)?
Radium radiator reservoir.
Wide side scoops.
Ballast plates for corner balance.
Front and rear tow hooks.
Sector Sys.6.pack
Difflow rear diffuser
APR canards

Everything else I have done is clearly stated. Hopefully I have not booted myself into XP!

Please reply with a reference if possible instead of a yes or no answer.

2012 Evora 2+0 IPS.
2007 Exige mental track toy.
2005 Elise.
1982 Brunette.

The three items which may have put you into XP are the V2 arms, the Difflow rear diffuser and APR canards. I haven't read the 2014 rules yet, but they tread on items which were part of the 2013 rules.

Storm titanium 2005 Elise with carbon fiber spoiler, BWR sway bar, BOE toe links, gPan2, LidBone, sector 111 wheel studs, Grey RAC Monolite wheels with toyo R1R, Team Dynamics 1.4 with Hoosier A6/R6s, Katana2 Supercharger, ECU with 265 flash. PPE headers w/decat, CEL angle eliminator, Silent touch catback, Rear Panel Eliminator, HKS intake, V2 fuel tank, Walbro255 fuel pump. HID lights.

You can replace either the upper or lower control arms just not both.

I have two SP cars (SSP & ASP) so here goes my interpretation:

Sector V2 arms + shims removed.top or bottom arm; shims only to within factory spec limits 15.1F; in fact shims my void ability per 15.8 H to adjust camber beyond factory specs.
Appendix F: LOTUS ELISE WHEEL SENSOR SHIMS
The wheel speed/cruise control sensor “shims” on a Lotus Elise are
considered a dual-purpose item, since they also affect available
camber range and may not be removed.

Rear toe links. ???

Rear window replaced with Kevlar panel (could claim the car is no longer in production). no

Catch cans (part of emissions)?maybe per 13.10 E and 15.10 F if no other parts are modified to accept breathers (I read that as cab use an existing hole only)

Radium radiator reservoir. per 13.10 E and added volume so ok per 15.10 L/3.

Wide side scoops. no

Ballast plates for corner balance. ???

Front and rear tow hooks. I hope so, with stretch reading of stock rules and safety (no performance feature) , I hate that Street Mod rules specifically mention allowance but under 13.2J one can add Tow bar brackets (without definition of a tow bar)

Sector Sys.6.pack legal safety .. 13.2H talks of harness bars and Solo Trials X.3 D/E talk of multi point harnesses and floor mounting crotch straps .. but would be allowed on a AutoX car I think without taking back out for dual purpose, however X specifically states no upper body harness without roll bar or cage; however I think we can claim the hefty roll structure in Elise and even Evora is a factory installed Roll Bar.

Difflow rear diffuser no

APR canards no

It helps to use the Acrobat Pro search feature to read pdf's

We struggle to keep our SSP Exige both class legal and competitive.

The V2 arms alone bump you out. Like Ryan said you can modify an upper or lower control arm but not both.

The wide scoops are not class legal and put you in SSM.

In a separate post, I think you have a surge tank which is not allowed.

You would at least move to SSM and need to add roughly 200lbs of ballast.

Even being class legal, its an uphill battle against 600hp vettes and in infinite hp GTRs...

Perhaps we should all write letters for a re-class to BSP so we can lose to S2000s instead???

Thanks for all the input!

Julian...........I'm still living in the Stone Age even though I have an IPad. I totally forgot that.

Chris and Dave.........the Kevlar rear window and race seat should boot me out of SSM, plus stock seat belt delete.

I guess I'm doomed to XP. ......Yay!

The rear window would be legal had it been a carbon fiber (replica) version as it was oem on the S260.

SCCA rules for sure don't favor the lotus.. :-(

Good point about BSP. On the right course I think the Lotus can hang with the Vett's in SSP. On a power course like the East side at Nationals this year the Lotus didn't stand a chance. My nephew a police officer was shot and killed and I had to leave Nationals early (no West Course for me) but I think the Lotus had a much better chance on the West course. My co driver was able to stay however it was his first time in the car which is not an easy car to adjust to as it likes to swap ends very quickly if your not ready for it the upside of 275's on the front of the car :-)

I was going to mention this as my Sport has the blocked out rear window as a stock feature.

Wow Ryan, that's terrible. Sorry to hear about your nephew.

I actually think the Lotus would be right on par with the cars in ASP. I don't think the way the SP rule set is structured fairly positions the Lotus in SSP. The forerunners of SSP are on a whole other level of power to weight and tire to weight. As far as BSP, there is only one S2000 that I would be worried about, and we race with him every weekend lol

Slightly off topic but I think still pertinent the SEB just ruled that the Evora S will be classed in SSP, upcoming Fastrack will report as action on my letter. This will be a hopeless class for the car.
