In addition to Elise and Esprit:

- FJ Cruiser as my DD
- Ferrari 550
- Two Vespas

also have a Cayman S which I'm trying to sell:

btw, how are you? Saw the nice XJ220 you have for sale - very nice!

damen no, I'd missed that one (though I have read through the esprit fact file). Thanks!

since Lotus didn't make that many Esprit, finding an idea one locally is a time consuming if not serendipitous process. It may be easier for you to pay for a Pre Purchase Inspection for a car that's not local.

Have you read through Lotus Esprit World's buying/maintaining section?
Buying an Esprit

Good luck!

I prefer doing something completely irresponsible, yet fabulously fun to something rational yet boring.

pchop Since it was Sunny and 75F yesterday, an impromptu lunch has higher priority than work. So a buddy and I decided to head to Neptunes Net in Malibu - a well known dive seafood joint off the PCH.

Here are a few pics we snapped along the way:

- our "playa supreme" lunch
- hitting 16,000 miles on the Esprit
- a WRX with license plate XL WING driven by a bimbo blond.
- a mannequin with the biggest set of t!ts i've ever seen.

lotus4s Congrats, the two cars look great together!

If the exhaust rattle isn't cracks or cats as mentioned, check the exhaust heat shields for the rattle, it's pretty common for them to crack, particularly the left side IIRC.

jtrealty The V-8 doesn't rev like a 4 banger but it has a lot of low end torque. The rattling noise can be a cracked tailpipe (common) or something came loose in a cat or a muffler. Look for cracks in the tailpipes near the muffler. A "short" clutch can be a sign of a worn clutch. You shouldn't be stalling it, the engine may need to be checked or the brakes may be dragging. The V-8 doesn't drive at all like an Elise. Be careful in transitioning into the V-8, it can get away from you faster than the Elise and you will not be able to bring it back. Your best investment, besides having it serviced by a Lotus trained tech, is a driving course. I don't know how you can complain about the "small" interior, compared to the Elise, it's roomy! It even has a useable trunk! Have fun with your new purchase. Now go to Griot's Garage and buy some stuff to clean, polish and wax it! Try drcolorchip.com to fix up any road rash on the front.
