Dylan As this is described as a mule, by definition you would not expect to see any, or perhaps just a very few, design cues. The point of a mule is to test chassis development, powertrain, etc., components. If possible, a manufacturer will use a similarly sized existing vehicle, but there is no requirement for it to look in any way like the expected vehicle. It's possible that the Lynk & Co vehicle is similarly sized, so the components might be made to fit with little to no modifications. Or it's possible that limited funds were spent on major modifications to make things fit, but that still might have been less expensive than a completely new vehicle.

boxerman Is this actualy a lotus developed vehicle, or are we looking at a volvo platform redeveloped into a sort of lotus.
Imo the new volvos are the dynamicaly worst vehicles you can currently buy,

Back in the GM/Isuzu/M100 Elan days, "Handling by Lotus" badges went on more Isuzus that just the Impulse/Piazza. It also went on the Isuzu Trooper, sold as the Bighorn in the rest of the world. The "Handling by Lotus" badge is on the spare tire cover on the one in the link above.

Mine is a 2004... Known as the Beta testing year, the 2003 being the worst...

Cayenne years rated by one owner.

My Lotus is an '89... much more reliable. In 46k miles and 18 years
Only left me stranded a few times...
1)Lost 2 fuel injectors (my fault)
2)overheated on track, lost over a gallon of coolant ($2 pressure cap venting at 11psi rather than 15psi)
3)headgasket #2 (coolant system restriction, prob my fault)

The Cayenne
1)Stranded first time it got wet, requiring a computer reset with a laptop and rewiring the canbus wiring under the driver's carpet due to 6 bad factory splices with no waterproofing.
2)fuel pump died
3)radiator sprung a leak along with transmission cooler
4)stranded again while hiking, needed a laptop to get running again every time it started until I redid the wiring under the dash for the steering lock.
This is within 3k miles.

But I'm the 6th owner, and where else can you get 450hp and 450lb-ft, the ability to tow 7000lb, carry 5 people, go off road, and still be pretty sporty and luxurious.. all for $10k ;P

I didn't know either of these.

I looked up CR and their readers say the 2016 was terrible in terms of reliability.

No rating for 2015 or '17.

What year is yours?

Cayenne's always start in 2nd gear... it's a tiptronic thing. Unless you manually shift to 1st or turn off the traction control.

I'm looking forward to the Lotus SUV... it can't possibly be LESS reliable than the Cayenne. My Lotus definitely has been more reliable than my Cayenne Turbo.

steelypip This approach has worked well for Porsche - I see way too many Cayennes and not enough any other Porsches in town, but it does keep the lights on in Weissach and besides, it's fun to embarrass the Cayenne drivers with my fine, vintage Elise (did so last night in fact).

That said, there is definitely a use for these: I've seen at least two Cayennes doing a fine job towing Porsche track cars on trailers.

This. Ugh.

Also, sad but not surprised, another sloping roof SUV that has S but not really any U. I had a 2004 Cayenne Turbo (new), and a 2007 ML63 (new). Plenty of S in both, and plenty of U. I guess nobody wants that anymore.

The screen on the dash seems like a tablet stuck on there. Maybe it deploys back into the dash?
Is that the corner of the airbag rolling up in
