My car has multiple track records against a variety of much more powerful cars and I won a national championship. Lots of aero is better then less aero even with the loss of top speed.

Note that the wing here is turned way too steep, I was chasing a driver induced handling problem.

Certified Lotus I did everything you could imagine on my track Exige S, in stages until I got the results I was looking for. Huge expense while I “toyed” with little enhancements that produced minimal results. If your going to do aero on your car that actually works you will need to committed and do it all at a big expense. And realize you will be slower in the straights but glued to the corners like nothing else on the track.

This is a slippery slope. Full aero requires the right suspension and larger brakes.

XHILR8N! Can we assume you are aiming for function over form? What application? Track, autoX?

Anything added will reduce top end. With these cars it’s getting front downforce that’s the challenge.

And you’re right, real data is hard to come by.

I think most of us just copy the looks of the real racers. I suspect the real racers copy the other real racers.

4380r I personally think most of the more extreme aero looks terrible on the Elige. Cannards, the big picnic table bench wings and cow catcher splitters really make these cars look too Hot Wheelish, almost cartoonish. If you need the aero for tracking, well then it's utility and the looks can be forgiven. Too much of the aero is like the 'carbon fiber.' Too boy-racerish.

Concrete evidence is basically impossible to come by, because creating a true controlled back to back test just isn't possible for most hobbyists. But I'll take circumstantial evidence, and general input from those that have installed some of these parts.

If they're all pretty much for show, I'm ok with that.. it would be nice though if some of this stuff actually worked on the track too.
My monstrous front splitter had a definite measurable effect on downforce balance as well as braking distance. I think anything that sticks out, seals to the rest of the bumper, and is flat underneath blocking off as much of the wheel well as possible will be good.

The side skirts I wasnt a good enough driver when I installed them so I am not 100% certain, but pictures and water marks from driving in the rain show they are keeping air under the car, so as long as the diffuser is working they have to be working...

For the wing as you are aware the cheaper wings arent that efficient, but they are a lot cheaper.

Lets hear it, I'm planning my bodywork for the Elise this winter and the big decision I need to make is if I want to stick with the Exige 2010 style wing (with a carbon fiber center section) or if I want to go with a more race oriented APR style wing.
