Lifted from EBay listing...sorry for the shameless plug

A rare and much sought-after sports car. A true classic conceived by one of motorsport’s greats: Colin Chapman, The Sprint is the final iteration of the Lotus Elan, Britain’s pre-eminent 1960’s sport car. Through 10 years of its evolution, it was never allowed to digress from its concept: a simple, light, nimble and quick open sports car that has become legendary in its performance and road holding characteristics. This fine example has been carried to the next and ultimate level of development with the addition of the most desirable modifications and performance and handling enhancements from Dave Bean Engineering. Odometer reads 13,863 miles.

Drop head Coupe, hand-moulded glass-fibre reinforced plastic finished in Cirrus White (Lotus p/n# PO309049). Repaint in 2001 shows nicely, a glossy finish but with some minor stone chipping and hard to see spider cracks not unusual for a 37 year old composite body. Easy to erect folding top in excellent shape which folds neatly under a quarter tonneau cover for open-air motoring. It’s in very good condition with no rips or tears and clear (not milky) rear windows. The cover has a minor tear that’s virtually invisible. In use, the top fits snugly; and with double sealed doors with electric windows, keeps elements out and warmth from the efficient heater in. Vacuum-operated retractable headlamps and PIAA auxiliary fog lamps are fitted. All chrome fittings, surrounds, radio antenna, hinges, boot lock, and keyed gas cap are in exceptional condition with no visible pitting. All correct and original badges are in mint condition.

Spyder adjustable contoured seats with head restraints, 3-point safety belts and harness, and the full interior wool carpeting are in exceptional condition. The full complement of as-new Smiths gauges are set in a new wood facia. A Momo leather clad steering wheel and the matching shift knob both have the Lotus emblem. Both originals are on hand. A modern Blaupunkt Heidelberg AM/FM/CD radio compliments the instrument panel and is fitted with Polk stereo speakers in the rear bulkhead. All instruments, signals, switches, lights, and controls work flawlessly.

Chassis and Running Gear:
The coveted full Spyder conversion has been fitted to this car. The light but rigid chassis, along with the quality components installed, improve on the already famous road manners of the Lotus. Spax adjustable coilover shocks on all 4 corners, large diameter anti sway bars and Spyder upper and lower arms. Spyder Aircraft alloy output shafts bolt directly to the sliding-spline U-jointed driveshaft. Spyder Rotoflex coupling cushions driving torque and takes up length variation during suspension deflection. The full Spyder roll cage not only ensures safety but adds rigidity to the car. All wheel disc brakes with the Elan+2 version fronts (larger than the standard Elan) stops the car on a dime. Genuine knock-off Panasport alloy wheels, Sumitomo radials have almost no tread wear. All this translates to one sweet-handling but comfortable driving machine.

The Lotus big valve twin cam motor was built by the famed Marcovicci-Wenz Engineering team of Ronkonkoma, NY. Twin 45 DCOE Webers feed the special Weber heads and exhausts through tuned stainless headers, a bullet glasspack, and stainless Supertrapp resonator. Blueprinted and balanced, this motor was dynoed at 167 hp, (vs. 125hp stock) and will put a grin to your face with a terrific acceleration that can only be had when you have this much power in a 1400 lb. car. Cosworth electronic ignition and high energy spark coil, crank-fired sensor. All new valves and springs with Cosworth titanium keepers. Reground cams with a Formula Ford crank makes it a 1700cc motor. Peak power @ 6500rpm. Cold air intake to gulp big air for the Webers. Although Marcovicci-Wenz specializes in supplying racing motors to famous teams worldwide, this motor is tuned for the street to match the docile but capable character of the Sprint.

Full synchromesh 4-speed gearbox shifts crisply as new.
Amsoil racing 20W50 synthetic oil, Synthetic gearbox fluids are all fresh.
Radiator and fluids, hydraulics fully serviced.
Electric thermo-coupled radiator fan in lieu of stock mechanical variety.
