So after blowing my 10 amp fuse twice now using an air compressor, I installed a 20amp plug in the trunk.

If you ever have to plug and inflate a tire in an emergency, blowing a fuse would really suck, so do this. $7 Insurance.
My little compressor draws 10-15 amps.

Note: there are accessory plugs that plug into your trickle charger connector, but those are often only 5-10 amps.

I extended the wires; added alligator clips. Connect directly to battery.

I had the alligator clip version for emergencies, but they did t fit in there well nor did it feel correct for a long term install.
It was merely temporary. You likely use compressor more than I.

You mean one of those portable lithium-iron battery replacement units? Good idea.
