These are awesome little cars... I'd own one if I had the room for it *hint hint Randy*

My buddy has a ratty white one with an SR20DET in it. It's pretty insane... it has a lot of chassis flex under boost but I don't think Datsun/Nissan ever would have imagined that someone 40 years in the future would put a modern engine in it and crank up the boost

^Dont worry about the sidetracking...i LOVE the old school stories even tho im in my late 20's...got a soft spot for the classics

Randy, im pretty sure its a 1.6

Fauxlan, thanks for the correction...goes to show you how much i know bout these cars. Definitely a blast to drive and even hit the twisties with the stock carb motor...cant even imagine the feeling of a SR20DET in this (not sure if its a good or bad feeling at that lol)

Heres an older pic bout 3 years ago when i was restoring my 76 toyota celica liftback...the datsun was her roomate (in the garage at our old place):

I tried my hands at Datsun restoration project but ended up selling to due to lack of interest/hard to find parts:

Very sweet... I built a 77 Celica liftback with a 7MGTE (MK3 Supra engine) back in college. That car was stupid fun on the street in a straight line :)

I'd also love a Datsun 510 someday. I have too many cars on my "want" list but don't have enough enough time, money, or space for them

After:

Believe it or not i got to sit in a Honda S600, PhylpSide...that car was truely ahead of its time

My first car was a '67 Datsun 1600 just like this! White too but with red interior. I paid $175 for it and drove it all over Northern California from '73 to '75. Everyone else in high school had an American muscle car. It's also the car I learned to wrench on, e.g. replaced head gasket, rebuilt carbs, etc. Ah, the good old days...
