I am swapping the filament wedge bulb for an LED. I want to know the max length LED that will fit in the cavity. Does anyone have experience with what LED fit and last the longest. The Lotus owner's manual says the Elise/Exige uses Can-bus. Does the LED need to be can bus compatible? If it is not will it expire prematurely?

I had good experiences on my 2006 Elise with the LED wedge bulbs in the high beam location. However, after a year or two one of the LED started to flicker.

As far as I know no Elise or Exige has a light-out indicator or system, which is what silly LED sellers mean by "CAN bus" (has nothing to do with an actual CAN data bus).

A non-"CANbus" LED is actually more likely to last longer. "CANbus" / light-out indicator compliant LEDs draw more current in order to appear like an incandescent to the bulb monitoring system and thus are subjected to more heat and a higher failure rate.
