As per my Provenance Report that I have just recently received from Andy Graham from the Lotus Archives @ Lotus, for the year 2011, there were 2019 Lotus cars built for sale in the US. Out of that number there were 77 Lotus Elise R's made.

Personally, there were only 4 Elise's that were Persian Blue with black leather and mine was the last of them off the production line. Anybody know who has the other 3 or know where they are?

P.S. Andy Graham was great to work with and was a kick to listen to when I called him (British accent and all that).

Cheers!

Wow! 2,019 Lotus for MY2011? That seems high to me. I was thinking <500, way less. Did Mr. Graham provide a breakdown of Base, SC, Exige and Evora?

that would be 5 1/2 cars per day coming out of Lotus. Actually it's 6.4 cars per day if the assembly building(s) were closed Sundays.

I can only agree with your thoughts but I called him to verify. What I believe to be true is the serial numbers indicated on the report for 2011 that start at 0334 and ends at 2353 is for all Lotus formthe year 2011 and not just the US market that the report alludes to. Guess that means another call across the pond to confirm. I was so zoned in on my car, I guess I didn't think that hard about it.

My Provenance Report is only for my Elise R so I can't give any other model breakdown, sorry.

Yes, 2,019 total produced for all countries seems much more reasonable?

Did you get yours at Sports & Specialist cars? I seem to recall they had a Persian Blue Elise there.

Well I called Andy on Monday between conference calls (I didn't have much time as is usually the case) and Andy didn't have all the numbers we talked about handy (he was digging them out on the fly). The information I got might muddy up the waters even more but I thought I'd share it anyway.

What I did ascertain for a fact that all Lotus cars (all markets) built for the year 2011 started with serial # 0001 and the last number was #2718.

While we were talking, he was able to supply me with these figures for the US market:

77 Elise R
35 Elise SC
2 Elise SCRGB
12 Elise SC Final
26 Exige Finals
22 Exige Mate Black
7 Exige RGB

He had mentioned that a total of 483 Exiges were built but this wasn't confirmed and we had just started talking about Evoras (I believe the figure 392 was mentioned) but at this point I had to get off the phone.
Well, that's what I got for whatever it's worth. Please remember that these numbers are not official in anyway and obviously not complete.

So as Andy so eloquently puts it: Cheers!

Thanks O Lee O. I pick up my '11 Aspen white Elise R on Saturday. I'm in the NY suburbs about 15 minutes from the gwb. Hope to see you on the road.

So 181 total MY2011 Federal Elise/Exige. That sounds correct. Thanks for tracking this down. I wonder how we get this Andy fella to provide a breakdown back to MY2005.

I can't help with other numbers, but my Provenance Report from the end of October 2011that I received from Andy Graham indicates that there were 74 2011 Evora S Models for USA (mine was the 69th built).

CKsElise, congrats on your purchase.

It just so happens that a few of us Lotus owners are having a little BBQ in Bayshore this Sunday. If you're game, why don't you bring that little White beauty and join us.

Search out the topic "Long Island BBQ/Lotus Meet July 15th 2012" and follow the link for directions. You can check out our earlier post "Long Island meet interest" and see pictures of our first meet. (there is a way to attach the links but I ain't experienced enuff)

We 2011s are gonna have to stick together 'cause we is a little different from everybody else. Me still pretty new to the game can only pass on my few experiences but some of the other guys are veterans and can gives you some good pointers. -oke-

We'd love to have ya!

2011 Chrome Orange, the numbers that show on your Provenance are correct, as I said Andy and I were trying to wrap up things real quick 'cause I had to go. Andy does lots of research when he does a report and he could only pull out a few numbers real quick while we were on the phone. Hey, I assume that you got both reports if you know what number you were, pretty cool isn't it.

Yep, I got both reports. I wanted as much information about my car as possible. They were very informative and Andy was very nice to deal with. He did everything in a timely fashion too.

And, for what its worth.... I ordered mine from Sports & Specialist Cars back in May 2011. They were (are) fantastic to deal with too.

O LEE O:

That's the best information I have seen yet on 2011 production numbers. These production numbers are much lower than I would have ever imagined, especially for a model year that had some styling changes, and was available in only that one year. I can't believe I missed it the first time you posted it. I remember another post where someone inquired to the total production of 2005 Federal Elise's and Andy Graham of Lotus quoted 3,321 (475 of which were Ardent Red in model year 2005). This number and the numbers you provided are perhaps more accurate than Registration numbers as the total number Elise's registered in 2004 and 2005 was 2558 with 1266 registered in 2006 and 599 in 2007. I would imagine this approximates a production of 2006 Elise's at somewhere in the 1,000 range and 2007 Elise's at 300, with some unsold inventory that were registered in subsequent years.

Thank you for sharing this great information.

If anyone else receives information on their Certificate of Vehicle Provenance from Lotus Company Archivist - Andy Graham, it would be much appreciated.
It may be a more accurate source than relying on the number of registered vehicles.
