So having had my car for 4 weeks, I experienced the proverbial "second cam" on the way to work yesterday.

I thought it was a myth. Crusty old-timers messing with us newbies. But no, it is real and it is spectacular.

I have been de-flowered.

I recently had the same experience. My brain just couldn't be convinced to not shift beyond 4k or so lol. So after a few months of owning my Elise and not getting it up to high enough RPM, I took it out late at night, warmed it up, and revved it up. It was unbelievable, I had discovered what this car was all about lol

It's addicting though, now I'm always looking for an excuse to get it in 2nd cam :shift:

Mmmkay, everybody else who is not regularly taking their cars into the 2nd cam range (assuming your car is broken in) needs to go ahead and hand over their keys to someone more deserving. This is ridiculous. ;)

What you need to try now is to cruise along in 6th at about 60 mph. THEN downshift to 3rd, and blast up to 90 on the second cam. Very effective way of passing someone when needed. Must rev match when doing so though... :D

Just don't let your wife find out about it. Some other guys wife discovered it, and he couldn't keep her from taking the car out all the time.

:panic:
When my wife drives the car she doesn't like to bring it into the 2nd cam, she said it sounds like it is going to blow up.

At least I wont have to worry about her ruining the engine.... ....except when she downshifts and puts it in 1st instead of 3rd. -eek-

She has gotten much better with that however.

My wife is 5'-2" 90lbs and can't reach the pedals or see over the dash. I have the Lotus ALL to myself.

God bless Lotus, the 2nd cam and the infinite wisdom of no vertical seat adjustment. (I'm getting all choked up.)

Last weekend, I was driving through the canyons with my old friends driving ten Miatas. Since I was driving the Elise, I took the last car position.
A straight away, I passed the Miatas and stopped at a light, even with the leader. I wanted to find out what his supercharger sounded in his Miata. We accelerated slowly and then he floored it and I heard the whine of the S/C, but it was short lived. My Elise's 2nd can kicked :p in and I left the S/C Miata shrinking in my rear mirror. From that point on, I led the group.;)

You guys are weird. You actually like missing out on some torque? That kick in the pants you are all so excited about is a sign that the torque was falling off before it happened.

I'll probably get stoned now for ruining the party.

...a gotham retune or lotus sport ECU are definitely in my future, unless i end up saving enough to go forced injection first - honestly, it should have come that way from the factory, marketing be damned...
