Hi guys, I am new here, been working on a Lotus GT3 project for last 8 months, just would like to share our work with anyone who is interested in Circuit racing.

We used a GT30R on the 2ZZ engine with a Quaife Sequential Gearbox, the car has a Geartronics pedal-shift system with, auto-blip, traction control & Drive By Wire all run by MoTeC electronics. Other mods include dry sump system

It competes in the Malaysian Super Series at the Sepang F1 circuit.
Approx 10-15 laps of the 5.54km circuit

The conversion was done from a 240R cup car, its slightly wider than the regulation GT3, & we also added 6" to the wheelbase to cope with the high speed corners at Sepang..

Hope you guys like the pics..

I have added more photo's at various stages of Evolution.. we started with the standard supercharger, then a larger 'after-market' charger & then to the GT30R turbo & then some cams & the next stage should be an upgrade to the GTX Compressor wheel..

We've dropped our lap times by 22sec's in the last 6 months but we are still 8 sec or so off the pace from the 2012 Ferrari 458 GT3 racecar..
We still need to find ways to carry more speed round the corners.

There are 4 guys working on this car full time, hence the rapid rate of Evolution. The car sort of grew & grew, now its a little chunky at 920kg & we are taking some steps to reduce weight..

The car is now in black, we took part in the F1 Support race at Sepang Malaysia, last weekend. The FIA did not allow a video camera in the car, however we race again in 2 months time, I will be sure to have some footage..

The car is still evolving, hence the 'rough' finish..

WOW!

Adding 6" to the wheelbase is no easy task, very impressive!

Do you have any pictures from the side of the car with the body work on? Just kind of curious what it looks like with the added wheelbase.

Also keep us posted with more pics and videos as it comes along. Car looks beautiful!

Hi, here's a short clip of the car leaving the pits which I just uploaded

Lotus GT3 500whp MoTeC.wmv - YouTube

We have the GT3 body molds which we further widened & stretched...
We also added more down-force to the bodywork & have taken the car up to about 160mph on the track

After adding the 6"s, the chassis could finally 'hook up' & get traction out of the corners, especially after the turbo was added... before that it was always trying to swap ends & felt really nervous. Now we managed to gain 4 sec's or so per lap... & finally have the confidence to turn up a little more boost..

A really great project! The spacer for the wheelbase extension (with new lower A-arm front mount) is very interesting to me as I have sketched a whole new rear frame to do the same thing sometime in the not too distant future. Have you added any additional bracing to handle the increased deflection resulting from the WB extension?

Thanks for all the encouraging comments!!
There is also a support brace to the sub-frame under the car; We also have 4 linear potentiometers per shock to measure damper movement. So far the movement still remains the same with the sprung mass resonating at 4.5HZ.

Our biggest challenge was regulating the cooling, especially the oil & air temps, once that was under control, then we could turn our attention to getting some traction..

For the past few years we have been racing Honda's but I was surprised at what the little 2ZZ could do, just using 'off the shelve' rods, pistons & sleeves, then later on a pair of cams & the same engine did the whole season last year with not more than 350whp & a TVS blower..

Here's something even better from the same owner, I call it the 'Mad Max' project, it was shelved due to regulation changes..

It's a stretched Elise with a custom rear subframe, a triple rotor 20B turbo with an Albins rear transaxle & air shifter.. its one of the maddest Lotus's I've seen..

If it gets moved out of its resting place I'll try to get some better shots..

Anybody need a Lotus for Drag racing?

Best of luck with these projects ... much of the fun is in the doing.

After my current SC to NA Lotus conversion with my Quaife box, I've been looking into SuperLite cars ... the SLC - $43,000 for roller see here -- they support all kinds of engine/trans options.

SLC runs in the great lakes / mid west regions of nasa. Of the times I saw them at mid ohio, the car only finished one or two races I believe and one was at nationals. The car looks very cool and is very capable of running fast laps (with pro driver Ryan Ellis) but it seemed like gremlin chasing for most of the season up to nationals. Nationals they made it count when they needed it. Speed channel "Gearz" is doing an SLC car build on their show and have interviews, etc.

I think that car in well sorted fashion is very fast. I think Pit Row Sports | Racing Team Web Presence is running one or renting one. Anyway, fast car to check out.

I think Ralph at V2 will be quicker though in his DSR this year at nationals. Well see ;)
