A few years back, I had my Esprit windshield replaced at Speedy Glass in San Mateo, CA. They are gone now, but they were great. My insurance ate it...I saw the invoice and it was $1,800 for the windshield including installation. OUCH.

HUH? In 2012 I got 2 quotes - ~$1400 and $2100 (factory OEM windshield installed). This is in San Jose, CA area and major national windshield replacement companies.

Allan's glass in Burbank Cal, ordered the glass and installed it.Owners name is Lee( if you need to contact them).

Hagerty sent me the check and Which I then used to pay the glass shop.

Total was right around $1050 or maybe it was $1150. No more then that for the glass,glass trim and install.

BTW,when the owner of the glass shop was looking for the windshield, I

mentioned to him,that he might contact JAE. He did indeed call them, and

told me later that they both were using the same source.

I think this would be much more likely with an independent glass installer rather than a national company.

When I asked them - it was no. At the time, they could not source a windshield and I saw the Pro Glass eBay ad and asked if I could bring my own.

For warranty purposes they said they could not install a windshield not obtained by them.

When I asked them (back when it was Elite Autoglass) it was "you have to source the glass, we can't find it" and "we can't guarantee it if it breaks, so you'll have to buy another one", they said they would do it for $75 IIRC, but I would have to leave the car with them for a few days...

I'll be doing my windshield myself most likely.

If anyone else tackles it themselves I recommend you definitely use glass primer like a Sika 206 G+P (black) on the fiberglass body AND the windshield. I use the Sika adhesive as well.
