I bought my 99 Esprit V8 from Lotus of Greenwich (Mark Starr) in 2005. Part of the deal was a belt replacement (I have the documents).....mileage at the time was 22.3K miles. I have driven the car for the past 14 years with much TLC, no tracking, no hard driving. It currently has 35.2K miles on it and it has resided in my garage with moderate humidity and temps that never dipped below 48/50 degrees.

I have two questions:
1- Is it time to replace the belt yet again and if so do the cam belts have to be replaced as well? What should be a reasonable cost for that?

2- The alternator seems to have given it up....should I replace it with a refurbished unit from JAE at $450 plus shipping, or have the shop that will do the work send the original unit out for refurbishing locally, or should I take the "fettling" route involving a 01 Cadillac Catera unit that needs mods and a slight engine lift etc. to fit?

Many thanks for any help y'all can provide.
