Two points:
I have the 225/45 17s mounted on Stella Corse (see avatar!) and under heavy track use, even with stiff 550lb springs on rear, there is a little rubbing on the inner wheel well - this would be a lot of rubbing with the 245/40 wider tire. The Rotas are 32mm offset and the Stella Corse are 35mm, so the Rotas will offset to the outside more, but this wider tire may still be a factor
The Rota 17 * 7.5 is really too small for a 245/40 tire which is spec'd for an 8" to 9.5", ideal 8.5" rim, although I'm sure lots of people squeeze them onto a 7.5" rim
