Considering a deal that I just cant pass up from another member... I will end up with some R1R's. What I want to know is if these tires are a step down from the AD07's. I know they are a step below the 888's that I was originally gonna get. but how do they compare to the advans for the track, street, and longevity?

I have heard the R1R's are great, the only thing they give up is they do not hold up lap after lap like a real R compound...but it's a very sticky tire. I believe Manly has done a sub 2 minute time with them at Buttonwillow 13CW (stupid fast). I would think on the street it's a great tire, probably my next tire on my STi once the NT01's wear out.

Recently put a set on the MR2 turbo (it's a street car and am still in break-in mode). Before picking them up talked to a Elise owner that has tracked and autox them. He's pretty happy with them. As expected not quite the grip levels of a R- compound. Maybe a little hard to do a direct comparison to AD07. Since for us it would be a skinny 175/55 up front. Would consider them very close, with the R1R being cheaper.

So would the turn in be less effective even those the base AD07's 175's are a lot skinnier than the 205's that would be on there now?
