Running over some rough pavement today I had the dreaded air bag light come on. Pretty sure it was just triggered by the jolt through the steering wheel. Does anybody have access too the Lotus specific scan tool for reading the code and clearing out the codes/light.

The dealer is a 3 hr drive away. Willing to pay shipping and an appropriate rental fee.

Check the connections under the seats first. Pretty easy to get to. The steering wheel shroud has I believe 4 screws. But not sure if you can get to the actual connector? I doubt you can get a scan tool. With no airbags I have electrical tape over mine :(

I believe when the light comes on it is hard on untill it is reset. I am such a perfectionist that the light or even a piece of tape over it will bug me to death.

My air bag light comes on when I hit a bump, I turn off the car and it goes away (till the next bump).

So, I pulled the seats and speaker panel cover, i inspected the electrical connections at each seat belt reel, I then disconnected and reconnected the main electrical connector behind the drivers side seat bulk head. Next i removed the steering wheel shrouding and inspected, disconnected/reconnected all electrical connections. Started the car, no airbag light! Reassembled everything, went for a 10 mile drive - all good:clap:

So I guess I learned that once the airbag light comes on it can reset itself once you have fixed the issue and not remain hard on until reset.

Happy Days.

?
used two 3.9ohm resistors, one for driver airbag and the other in the passenger.

I got it! I put a 2.2 ohm resistor into the circuit and it works fine. That's about the same impedence as the seat belt tensioning device that the resistor replaces. Yeah -- finally.

Pretty easy...just cut the legs down the size and push into the pin holes in the yellow plugs, then i used electrical tape to secure and protect everything! Works a treat and no warning lights/faults

Anyone got this to work?
Don't want airbags, can't have the lights!
