I saw the car in the flesh in Italy at the Mille Miglia in Brescia this year. Beautiful lines and yes, quite a bit like the Elise. But once you put the driver position low in a mid engine design and want to make the car lightweight and small, then throw in aerodynamics, well, you kinda get them all looking quite similar I think.

But seeing it up close it was breathtaking.

Some pictures I took at the Alfa display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. As I've said before, I'm not crazy about the oddball flat-red paint, but the shape is drop-dead gorgeous.

A few big ifs - if it is close to as light as they are predicting, and if it's as powerful as predicted, and if it's the $55-$65,000 they are predicting - I'd buy one.

The fact is, Alfa already makes several pretty good-looking cars in Europe already. I'm anxious to see what they bring here, and when they will be here.

I've yet to see a single blurb or article about it that doesn't also make the Elise comparison!
But I think it looks cool, tho a little funky in the nose.

Yes... its like the headlights are set too far back maybe? I'd certainly test drive it, wonder what engine it will get and how the reliability would compare to the Toyota powered Elise...

The carbon KTM x-bow derived chassis sounds promising, but the parts-bin suspension is concerning. Hopefully this does more than look the part...

Prospective engine looks to be called "1750 TBi". 1.75L 4 cylinder direct injection & Turbocharged. Currently the most powerfull variant is in the Giulietta and is rated at [email protected]/[email protected] Paired with a 6 speed semi manual transmission (paddle shiffter).

Will have to see how strong the engine and transmission are.

What is that last one?

And as much as I hate to say it, our cars look similar to Solstices.

BTW, I read that the all carbon tub got nixed and it will be mixed materials.

I have the 1750 engine in my current daily drive which is a 2011 Giuletta and it is a great engine (and car). I have driven 25,000 km so far and no probs. I also am looking forward to the release of the 4C

You probably think that because they share a windshield frame design. The solstice or really the Sky is the Opel Gt abroad and shares that windshield design with the Speedster or vx220 which was a Lotus.

I don't care for the 4c's looks (yet) but I can appreciate the platform.

Do you have a link for this? It was probably a bit unrealistic to think it would make it to production, I guess. Would have been really cool though...
Was thumbing through a car mag at Barnes and Noble and ran across it.

Found this:

We do know that the concept version of the 4C used a carbon-fiber chassis designed by Dallara, a racecar manufacturer responsible for contributing to the KTM X-bow, Alfa 8C, and the Bugatti Veyron. This will help with aerodynamics of the 4C and enhance handling so that it’s much more responsive. The production version’s frame is an in-house design that also utilizes a carbon tub but the front and rear frames are aluminum. This equals a lower cost to make the 4C and only adds a little more weight. The outer panels of the concept version were made of carbon too but this will be switch out for a lightweight form of fiber glass in order to save money during production.

Thanks for that SwingLo. Pretty amazing if it makes it with the carbon tub. I hope they refine the front end, it still looks a bit weird to me.

I guess some Fiat dealerships will become Fiat/Alpha?
