This is my first non-introductory post on this forum...

Except for the two bulbs i need to buy, it was completely free... (but you should only do this with LED replacement bulbs in your tails, because incandescent bulbs draw too much amperage)

sorry for the super shitty pics...
Brake only:

Tails only:

Brake+tails:

Blinker:
<img src="http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b63/ctnewman3/lotus_light_blinker.jpg">

Took about an hour... i don't know if there is a writeup for this already, but if there isn't all you need is some solder, strippers heat shrink and a razorblade...

Does anyone have any before pics of what the tails look like?

what exactly did you do?

like, what did i splice to where? or what is different... i think it is pretty apparent what is different.

In a nutshell, the process was to:

Wire both black plags together in the inner lights
Wire both grey plugs together in the outer lights
Make a plug for the center amber light

done.

Did you make an amber light for turn signal only? It is not as apparent as you think.

Okay I'll take this one. :D Newman, I thoroughly have enjoyed your first two posts, and you have been well received here. So I don't want to say anything that might miff you or your fans.

Having said that, it is not entirely clear what these photos are about.

From my perspective, it's just a picture of a tail light lighted up. When I bought my car, my tail lights already lighted up. So I don't get it. I'm sure you have accomplished something great. It's just that, from the photo one cannot tell what the goal was? What did you change?

Thanks in advance...

Harold

Well, in some areas Elises are rare so owners rarely get to see one from that angle, hence the difficulty of knowing what your lights look like if you're driving... but iirc the amber portion of the taillight lens isn't wired up. So that's one thing he's done. And he's replaced the bulbs with LEDs as well.

He's also wired the taillights to utilize the full circles instead of half circles (note the second picture in his first post). Normally that would be the left half circle of the left light and the right half circle of the right light (of the left side pair). That's why his comment about drawing too much power...twice as many bulbs.

Thanks. In the future I'll just PM ChrisB to figure out WTF is going on. :)

The problem is--and I love my car dearly--I have just never walked out to my garage and asked someone else to step on the brake. I have no idea what is going on there to begin with. My fault!!!

You need to get it out of the garage on group drives with other Elises! :D

I driven it more than 3K mikes in the first three months...of winter! I drive, I drive.

It just never occurred to me that maybe I could have something better happening back there if I worked on it harder!!! rotfl

Anyone know what bulb type the center will take (the turn signal which is independent and according to you, prewired?)
asking...

I'd love to have amber turn signals in the rear, I hate red ones...
