An Invitation to Current and Future Elise Owners from Lotus Ltd. North America's Largest Lotus Car Club

With the introduction of the Federal Elise just months away, it is our goal is to make Lotus Ltd. the club of choice for all Lotus owners in North America. With this in mind Lotus Ltd. cordially invites all current and future Elise owners to join us.

It is our hope that with Lotus Ltd.'s 30 years of Lotus car club experience and history, as North America's largest Lotus car club, you will feel we are your club of choice. We are very much interested in what you would like to see for benefits and programs centering on the Elise. Please let us know. We welcome you with open arms and look forward to your active participation.

Although we are not Elise specific, Lotus Ltd. and our monthly publication ReMarque have been very much anticipating the Elise on our shores in North America. We recognize there may even be new Lotus Elise owners not be familiar with Lotus's rich racing and engineering heritage or previous road models. It is our hope we can provide some exposure to that part of Lotus history to enhance your Lotus Elise ownership.

Many of the updates in member benefits and programs instituted the last year, and those we are working on for the future are with Elise owners, like you, in mind. Our monthly news letter ReMarque has, in the last year, already featured several articles in the "Elise Watch" column with the most accurate and up to date information on the coming new car. We announced the commitment of Group Lotus to build the federal Elise with an accurate import date before the motoring press. We announced the 190 HP Toyota engine months ago as an example, while the motoring press hinted with little accuracy. Lotus Ltd. will continue to be the place to get the most accurate and up to date new information as US delivery approaches. This includes our own road test performance.

As the Elise arrive and we begin to see road and track use we will be there with tech articles as well. We anticipate there will be more interest in track days and auto cross activity which Lotus Ltd. has experience in providing. Not to mention Lotus Ltd.'s annual LOG [Lotus Owner Gathering] where you have the opportunity to spend a long weekend of fun filled activities with other Lotus owners and their cars from all over the country. Tech sessions, auto cross, track day, guest speakers from Group Lotus and world famous motoring legends form Lotus' past.

Take a look at the Lotus Ltd. (www.LotusCarClub.org)website if you are not familiar with us where you will also find information on joining us. You will also find a listing of local affiliated groups which keeps growing in numbers and membership. If there is not a local affiliate group in your area, Lotus Ltd. will gladly assist you, as a Lotus Ltd. member, in starting one if you wish.

I think you can see we have the same interest at Lotus Ltd. as you desire from a Lotus car club as a new Lotus Elise owner. We hope you will join us for the ride of a life time in your new Elise.

Thanks for the invitation! Of course, there has been some discussion about forming a club or joining a club by the posters to this forum. I'm sure that you can find the thread here if you are interested. It's probably too early for most of us to decide what we will do, but Lotus Ltd sounds like a promising option.

That track is beautiful. I've thought about signing up for the Porsche Driving Experience just so I can drive on that track. If Lotus Ltd will have a track event at the next LOG, then I need to think about going.

Who's up for a serious road trip with our new Elises?

Went to mapquest for directions to Birmingham. It appears to be 2067.28 miles from Westlake Village and requires 31 hours 40 minutes of driving time. Each way!!

I do believe that I shall live vicariously through the experiences of anyone else who chooses to make the trip.

For over 20 years a group of the Lotus clubs on the left coast (some affiliated with Lotus Ltd) have been presenting and hosting the West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM). The 2002 event was in Monterey hosted by the Golden Gate Lotus Club (GGLC), the 2003 WCLM was in Portland hosted by Club Lotus Northwest (CLNW). The 2004 event was just announced, hosted by the GGLC, May 20-23 in Lake Tahoe (in association with ELCC, CLNW, CLLA, LOOP, LOCO, Club Elite, and others).

The 2004 WCLM will be 3 1/2 days of Lotusing - Track day, autocross, Lake Tahoe tour, dinner/dance cruise, BBQ, Concours and much more and set in one of the most scenic areas of the world. Of course we will be featuring the Elise....

We should have some early information on the GGLC site by the end of the weekend. www.gglotus.org

Kiyoshi-

Lake Tahoe sounds wonderful, but most, if not all, of us probably won't have our cars by then. 2005??

MW -

I do have a sense of adventure, but I'm too old to remember where I put it or how to use it! Perhaps the Elise will jog my memory.

Portland, OR = 974.66 miles, 14 hr 38 min (from Westlake)

Lake Tahoe = 510.40 miles, 8 hr 44 min

Monterey = 308.29 miles, 5 hr 12 min.

We'll have to take our chances on the number of Elise that will at the 2004 WCLM. However, I've been working (twisting) LCU's arms to see about getting some demos there so folks can have a chance to drive one. There's nothing like putting someone's ass in the seat that does a better job of selling! (Hence all the driving events that we've planned).

And... Randy, we are totally open to having the WCLM in SoCal in 2005. The WCLM has moved around - San Diego, Santa Barbara, Cambria, Monterey, Sonoma, Willows, Portland... And different clubs have hosted - Lotus West, Club Lotus, GGLC, Club Elite, etc.

One of the unfortunate realities of living on the west coast is that the metro areas, while large are spread out. I drove 13 hrs (towing) to Portland for this year's WCLM. I'd love to see an event in Palm Springs or Vegas. Would be very fun!

Ah come on man! 31 hrs, if you're driving at 65 mph. We're gonna go at 100+mph :D Just kidding...

Barber Motorsports is such a beautiful track that such outlandish ideas come even to my aging mind...but in all seriousness, I may do it. BTW: There is also an excellent motorcycle museum at the track.

The Lake Tahoe event should be cool. Since I'm #17 at Symbolic, I'm not likely to have my car... :(

They also have a rather nice collection of Lotus F1 and sports racers at the museum.
Elises, motorcycles and race cars? Well I guess that seals it for me!

There will be a track day at Barber Motorsports Park for LOG 24. You guys in the Elise will have to move over for us old dogs in our Esprit. :)

LOG 24 should be a great event. There will be a lot of emphasis on the Elise as Lotus Cars USA is using our Lotus Ltd. event to introduce the Elise. I can assure you Gordon Davis from LA will drive his Esprit as he did from LA to New York this year.

I hope to see all of you at LOG 24!

Thanks for the invitations, guys! I definitely look forward to joining.

I've got some "pull" at our local 2.2mi roadcourse, so if anyone is interested in a little "midwest trackday", be sure to let me know.

2.2mi roadcourse, 1/8th mile dragstrip, jetski lake, and a motox track across the street. Pretty impressive setup, if you ask me. ;)

Thanks again!
