I don't know how this effects other but it may serve as a guide. I have the 3rd car at my dealer, Princeton, (behind the dealer demo and a car the owner purchased for himself). My car was scheduled for a build in the first week of June before all these recent delays. I received word today, from my dealer, that I now have a build date of "July" and should expect delivery in August. He has a order number and a Vin for my car. BTW, I did not order the LSS. He also said that LCU confirmed his first 5 cars are scheduled for production or have been completed. So I guess we're looking at a month delay at this point and maybe 8-10 cars at the smaller dealers by summers end. I'm not happy but I will continue to deal. I have been waiting a couple of years now, a few more weeks aren't going to kill me. As long as I have my car for LOG and my late summer vacation (in mid-late august) I'll be OK.

It should be noted that my dealer also said that LCU told him he may have a couple of cars already at port. He told me that my car may be one of them. Now how my car, which is scheduled for a July build, is somehow at a port in June is beyond my understanding of the space-time continum, but what the hell do I know. I've been waiting so long now, maybe they built my car last July and it took 11 months to get across the pond.

"I'm thoroughly confused"

Apparently Lotus is as well! But I did see the silver LA Auto Show car at Park Place today so that helps.

The interior fit and finish on the car is pretty bad. Granted the inside has taken some serious abuse from people climbing in and out AND it is a pre-production car. There is some broken plastic bits on the passenger side and some bluish stains on the red leather seats. Looks like somebodys pen leaked on it or something. No rides in this car but it does have a real nice idle. Doesn't sound like a 4 cylinder but it doesn't sound like some kids riced out Honda civic either.

I can atest personally to what Chris just said. I persoanlly had time in and around some of the press cars and they are far better than the LA cars. What I found interesting is that even the press cars had different dash and sill materials than our production cars will have.

The simple fact is that the wait is getting to all of us. It's one thing to sit around with the prospect of a car not yet 'federalized' by the DOT. However, totally another matter when 'they are being built' and 'cars in port' and 'july build time' comments run abound. I, like many of us, have been waiting for the Elise to fill the void of something fun to drive and as I look at getting my car in the depths of winter (if even by then) I begin to waver and look around for something else. Rant over.

Looking for other options as well

Given the continual changes in build dates, delivery dates, etc, I am alos starting to look at a number of options given I've now been told November as a delivery date (I was #17 on the list at Behlman and have move to #14). With a winter delivery date, an S2000 ($2500 below MSRP) or M4 ($6000 below MSRP) are looking like viable options. If I wait long enough the new C6 and Boxster SC will likely be on the market. They are looking better and better each day.

The look better and better each day because they are available, I'm still tickled that I'm (at some point) going to get a car that every reviewer gushes over about how it's a giant killer.

Whats an M4?

yeah, what is an M4.

i will wait as long as it takes. i have wanted a lotus for many years. i passed on an esprit turbo some years ago. i passed on a europa many years ago. i have considered an elan...and the red one i saw last week was drop dead gorgeous. but i will have an elise. it is going to be the climax of a 20 year lust. a lotus lust one might say.

Robert, that's a sad tale. DO they realize how messed up it is? Of course I can't even get an unbelievable tale from Rothrock. They just don't know anything. Given your story, I'll take nothing at all from Rothrock for now. I don't want to know until I have a date to expect to pick her up. Then I'll do the financing. ugh

An M4 by this winter--are you crazy???...the new 3 series not even out yet and M series usually comes out a full yr after regular 3 series change...new M4 will not be called the M4 anymore, will just be M3 and it wont be out til late 06' for 07' season.

I assume he means a Z4 (or possibly M3??) since he says 6000 below MSRP - obviously that wouldn't be the case when the M4/new M3 arrives...

Robert...I'm #14 (up from 30-something) at Sport & Specialists Cars in Princeton and spoke with Ramsay (missing Michael for sure!!) about 10 days ago. He informed me (maybe informed is not the proper word here...lol) that I should be seeing my car the earliest July, the latest September. How's that for a delivery date range?

I sent Ramsay an EMail (with this great little video clip - http://http.dvlabs.com/nakednews/specials/wheelz/WheelzLotus_HQ.wmv) and am still waiting for a reply.

The wait continues....

Perhaps too much blood rushed from your head to other parts of your body and your ears seized up. You should probably install an accusump...:)

That's cold :D, anyhow, she's not that impressive. I want to hear the car, not her.
