for some reason spyders and cobras have a roll hoop like that too. I always wondered that. Your instructor's helmet would sit 5" above the bar!

I think it makes the roll bar stronger than if it ran straight across both driver and passenger. But I agree with you, it looks dorky. The driver is sending the message that all his friends' brains are disposable.

With all the batteries, they ran out of budget for the roll bar and had to cut a corner or two. ;)

Interesting concept, but somehow doesn't fit the character of the car. A classic gone electric?? Hmm..

It would seem such a bar design is done for aesthetics only (although I question the aesthetics) without any intent of safety. It may not even be attached to the frame.
