Hello All,

I have contemplated doing another group buy on the adapter kit/steering wheel but have not decided whether to proceed as I'm sure the prices will have to go up as well as requiring a significant cash outlay on my part (not to mention the headaches involved) and I'm not sure if there is enough interest to meet the minimum quatities required which would probably be 15-20.

The current wheel discounted prices are from around $525 to $725 for the most popular styles purchased in the past and the adapter kits are $195, both including shipping to the US. I don't know how much the adapter kit will increase without getting new quotes on all the parts involved but I would imagine at least 10%. I make nothing on the wheel purchase but I will make a few bucks off the adapters to cover my time and investment involved. The wheels are purchased by you directly from TM Tuning in Germany with pre-arranged discounts for the group buy. Welcome to TM Tuning - your # 1 source for VW & Audi OEM and aftermarket parts

The only other similar conversion kit that I know of is from Moto Concept in Germany which would cost you around $1300. Our group buy price would be in the neighborhood of around $850 for the same wheel/adapter combo.

If you're interested please post here or email me directly if you'd like more info.

Thanks,
Jim

???

Why would anyone want to put this into their Elise or Exige? We already have a smaller and better looking wheel in our cars.

Hey Rich,

Good point, that's probably why this was posted in the Esprit section. You know, the other Lotus :)

I have to apologize, I apparently forgot that I had sold the spare I had back in '08 together with my black Esprit. The new owner did not want the Raid steering wheel so I mistakenly thought I still had the adapter.
I contacted him and he told me he had it and it is in (good) use on the car with a different Raid wheel.
Sorry

But why don't you contact Jim ? 2 of you are wanting one. Offer him $250-$300 and maybe he can have them machined ??
It's really worth the money. Believe me.

I'd do that.
What about you PCHOP?
BTW, who is Jim?
Jim is the OP of this and he made a batch of these adapters for Esprit peeps. Unfortunately he needs to run a batch of 20 of these adapters to make it worth while and I believe getting a proper airbag connector has been an issue as well. I've traded emails with Jim and I've tried to get a connector for him as well. Unfortunately the junk yard is making me buy the entire airbag system for $300 which again is not worth the money.

I have been talking with a german company and will let you know if things pan out. They can supply a full Esprit with adapter and wheel kit for around 800 euros.

If you can get the pigtail along with any airbag wheel you buy, you can simply solder the new pigtail to your existing wiring. I had to do it on a couple of cars, not a big deal.

I'm with you on this PCHOP.
Keep me /us posted on what's going on, and when things firm up.
BTW, is it a Raid wheel, like in the pic at the top of the thread, I like that.
Thanks.

yes it is a raid, but it's not the daytona with aluminum as the pictured. I've asked him to price me the daytona and freeway all leather version of the raid and so far have not heard back.

OK, I'm thinking the Freeway is the better wheel for me. I want it squishy all the way around. ;).
Altho all the wheels shown in this thread look much better than mine--
The color doesn't even match!

I've got the all black leather Freeway wheel in my 2000 V8 and was in the first group that Jim did the adapters for. Oddly my wheel has an Atiwe sticker (which fell off in less than a week) on the bottom rather than the Raid sticker (same company). The only downside on the Freeway wheel is you can't find the bloody horn buttons when you need them!
