I am considering buying an Elan and would like a ride in one before I start searching for one. I most likely will buy the car sight unseen, so I want to know whether this is a car for me or not. Being a passenger for the ride is fine.

I have not spoken to him for yeeeeeaaars but John at Vara's in needham was pretty into them at one point.

If he is still there perhaps he has one or knows of one .

I have a friend in Springfield with one.

IF you do not get to drive one, I do not think you will be disappointed.

Not as fast or as go kart like as the Elise, it is much more of a real car if you will.

It does not feel or act like a front wheel drive car unless the tires are junk.

I would compare it to driving a non traction controlled Audi Quattro for the first time in the snow. You are giggling about doing silly things that ought not be possible.

Downsides
Shifter is stirring lumpy mud
power steering could be heavier

If not for the time involved in working in cars, I would not have sold mine.

They are a serious bargain.

Unfortunately John Hansis from Vara's Garage past away in 09, he was the best source in the New England area at the time for all M100 related issues or questions as well as a team mechanic for Lotus. :(

Lotus Elan Central is still active and best resource for all M100 Elan's also...
