Just to caution you Esprit, that photo looks more like a jet black rather than the metallic black that the Starlight actually is. I saw one a couple days ago at Fox Valley Motorcars. It looked great but it was a customer car so they won't have any pics of it on their website. The Metallic flakes could easily be seen.

thanks, MickOpalak, OriginalBlackCi and ivan1,

i've seen an '04 esprit in st black at sports & specialist cars in princeton, very nice paint!!

it's just i haven't seen any of the new elises with this paint, and some of the new photo postings have been great, but none in SB.

the photo from mickopalak does look more like a jet black, but it's the only fed elise i've seen with SB. 'does make e feel better on my order (#23 S&SC).
to me, it's a classic sports car color combo.

thanks again!!rotfl

I didn't necessarily mean that jet black was being offered but more so that it looked like a matte black paint as offered on other cars.

God I love black cars. I just wish they didn't get so dirty. Just like I love black leather. I just wish it didn't get so hot. Hence the green car with tan leather.

mick, you're the man!! the elise looks great in black!! woo hoo!!
she sure does NOT look intimidated by the testarossa or the bimmers, does she!?! thanks for the extra pictures!

totally green, we're getting the std black interior with the cloth inserts, will be less hot than the leather seat surfaces. but still hot none the less. but this is my first lotus, and i've always wanted black/black. as an art director, colors mean a lot to me, as well as the visual relationships of shapes and colors. your combo is a great british/lotus combination! still waiting?

i'm patiently waiting for our SB (#23 s&sc). she'll probably arrive when there's snow on the ground, what a site that'll be!

Man, the curves of the Elise look great in black. Has almost a liquidy smooth look to it. None of that 2-tone look with the vents & windshield frame too.

The thing that doesn't show up in those photos is how *brown* the black looks in bright sunlight. When I was taking those pictures, I was hoping it would show up, but unfortunately it didn't. If you like the black, definitely try to see one in person on a sunny day so you aren't surprised.

Jet black it ain't.

i saw the car at LoA inside and it looked very silver to me. I didn't notice any brown in it at all. would it look a different shade in sunlight vs flourescents?

Beats me. Someone in another thread suggested that there were more gold flakes in the paint than silver--maybe they really come out under bright light.

To be fair, it was a *very* sunny day. It probably isn't as bad on a normal day.
