Hey all. I have owned a Red Elise for about 6 months now. I have been off and on the boards and keep forgeting to say something. Wondering if there are many people in missouri or close that are on here? I live in Columbia Missouri.

Howdy! I lived in CoMo for 5 years in college and a little afterwards. I lived off the north end of Rangeline, and then off of Grind Stone Pkwy. I just purchased an Elise 1.5 weeks ago and now live back home in Kansas City. The KC group seems to be active here so you will have to keep your eyes open for the next meetup.

Thats cool. KC isn't that far from here, i usually go up there every once and a while to visit friends. It would be cool to go to a meet. Do you all ever go for a track day together? I did see a couple threads of 3 people in KC but that was 2 years ago and am not sure if they are on here anmore.

Oh i should kind of introduce my self to you all too. I am a 24 year old Software Developer for Midway USA. I have always been into cars, and was always interested in autocross. I became a big racer kid as soon as i got my first car and was hitting up all the windy country roads to get good. I like long walks on the beach in the moonligh....... oh sorry too much :)

My car is a 2005 Lotus Elise Ardent Red. So far i have already bought the Larrani Down pipe with sport cat and Larrani Muffler (And i love it) from Sector 111. After owning a lotus i would probably protect it with my life!

Funny how that works. I am 26 and have been a long time lurker of the boards as well. My friends and I are just now getting into SCCA and learning all the ropes that come with autocrossing. About the exhaust, does that keep you in Super Stock or does the sport cat make you change class? I am thinking about the mods I am going to do, but I would like to do as much as I can and still remain in Super Stock.

You know i actually don't know if that would put me there. I have always raced in stock. I think the rules say anything after cat is acceptable so it might push me into the Super Stock or even Street Prepared. I haven't raced the lotus yet because i am still getting used to it. But i am hoping to get people together from her to have a good track day soon. Even if it pushes me out, i think it was worth it :)

Dang I have to say congratulations to someone who got a software job in columbia. I grad there probably 4 years before you with a CmpE BS, a respectable GPA (3.1), and internship experience and I still couldn't land squat in that town. Had to move out to KC (and then on to bigger and better things) to get the right job....

You should definitely look into getting out to Topeka, KS sometime if you want to do anything on a track. Not really sure if st. louis or kc is better for autocross. I really miss that KC BBQ though, I'd almost drive to KC from where I am now for the food alone.

Welcome to the area. Kansas city does have meets every so often, nothing scheduled. If you ever want to have a fun day at the track with your car check out Heartland Park Topeka (racetrack). They have a touring club on every other Wednesday at the track and you can run out there. St. Louis has a pretty active club with drives every month or so. I haven't made it yet to one living in KC. In Chesterfeild, about 1:45 from you, on the first Saturday of the month they have "cars and coffee" at St. Louis Motorsports. Not strictly Lotus but I hear the turn out is pretty good.

Try PM to British_Marque. He is local to Columbia and a great guy. Tons of Lotus knowledge too.

Yeah i have been out to the St. Louis track before. It's an ok track. I have heard a lot about topeka, been thinking about going there sometime. When you all say they have clubs, is that just the guys on here talk about meeting every once in a while? I will have to send British a PM. It would be nice to get to know some Lotus owners since there really isn't to many of us :)

Yeah i will deffinetly get on that thread. I wouldn't be able to make todays track day, and probably not any during the week. A Software devolopers life is tedious and they don't let me see sunlight before 5 very often! I have spent the whole day today just reading through threads to kind of get an idea of people in here. I just finished the plaque thread which Wayne seems like an awesome good guy for doing that. I did read the thread about the girl in KC spinning her car on the highway, very interesting thread. I do hope to meet everyone soon!

If you can't make it to the track during the week, sounds like you need a new job;)

I agree with the tedious part but have to disagree with the tied to the cube part. I've been a software developer for over 32 years now - and I currently work 150' underground in a friggin' cave. Seriously! Ya got to get out and smell the flowers every once in a while or you'll go crazy.

During deadlines and stuff that 5pm (and beyond) thing is somewhat true but you have to get out of the cube farm dude... ;) I still make it out to the Heartland Park (occasionally) on Wednesday afternoons for Touring Club events. :coolnana:
