I noticed this on eBay today. eBay Motors: Lotus : Elise (item 170214678783 end time May-02-08 04:37:22 PDT)

Anyone have any knowledge on this car? This seems way to good to be true. $12,900 for an '05 with under 16k miles. Free shipping. Clear title. Something smells fishy. When you click on the vehicle history link it says unavailable and to check back later, but works fine for every other Elise listing on eBay.

Anyone have the low down? Seems to me it's either a scam or a major misprint.

Thanks.

Well the carfax comes back clean but that is really meaningless.

Not sure where you see the 12,900 figures.

Something smells fishy.........
After reading this quote in the auction description: "The headlights have been upgraded as well, work perfumed by a local Lotus Service Center (Auto Europe in Birmingham, MI)", I think he had the smelling fishy problem fixed with the perfume job by Auto Europe!!

stay away ... this was a hijacked account !
Yep, got a response back from the owner of the account who's working with eBay. I actually got an email response back from the email listed in the description, stating that the car was indeed available for 12,900 due to financial problems and that shipping was free. All I had to do was provide my eBay username and shipping address so that he could "setup the transaction on eBay Vehicle Protection Program".

Lesson: If it seems to go to be true, it IS to good to be true. :)

Any time you see a "buy it now" in the title or the description, but there's no actual button to Buy It Now, it's garbage. Sometimes, they'll put the price with O's instead of zeroes (12ooo) - looks like a damn spam email for viagra.
