I've been thinking about adding a GT40-style Gulf stripe (sometimes called 'smiley-face) yellow on black. See the "other colors" photo here

for an orange on black version. But my main concern with this stripe or standard double stripes is what to do about the clear bra and when to have it installed. Obviously for painted stripes, you should hold off on the clear bra. But for vinyl stripes, you could go either way I assume.

be careful - I heard the yellow they use for stripes is lightening, so it may not look good against saffron:D

Have the clear bra applied after your stripes are put on (painted or vinyl).

It will be a little harder to get the adhesive to fully wet out on the edge of the vinyl stripe. I'd recommend that you get a good paint shop to spray the stripe. It will look better than vinyl.

Can't wait to see pix of your car. I love the Gulf blue/orange combo on the GT40.

I'm not getting the Elise for a very long time, but I would like a BRG car, with two yellow stripes down the middle, I think that's type 25, but I'm not sure.

probably not. If i get GG then maybe silver stripes. If i get CO then maybe black stripes. I think GG with silver will look killer, though.

I was thinking about 2 stripes down the center of ST that were gunmetal in color... I would also powder coat the wheels gunmetal to match, and the brakes would match the interior red trim.

Or I would just have black rims and that's it.

Me too... the type 25 has got to be the best looking elise. If I didn't have an aversion to pushing over $50k after adding the touring pack to my otherwise loaded order, I probably would have gotten BRG/biscuit and put the stripes on myself.

As it is I think I'll be happy with my "understated" ST elise. :)
