Did anyone contact their dealers to find out the real price on a hardtop?

We only have one account for $2700 unpainted I wonder if that's the official price.

one idea would be to form a list of people interested in a hardtop. people getting cars sans hard top could add it and make it available to listed people for the price of the option, taxes and shipping.

Apparently, I had the privilege of being the first elise owner to order a hard top, aftermarket. I contacted 2 dealers including my local one who was the more expensive, but then offered to meet the other price I was quoted - $2660:( :( . This did not include tax or 50% of shipping (dealer agreed to pay 50% of shipping cost), but did include painting - I think my total was around $2900 all in.

I think you may be able to get it cheaper if you shop around, and can avoid tax if you purchase it from an out-of-state dealer (although with shipping this may be a wash).

Delivery was estimated 6 weeks, but dealer was not so sure this was accurate given that this was a first.

Lesson to all those thinking about deleting the hard top to save $$ and buy later. Don't !!!

I think it's quite common that car manufacturers sell hard tops for less if you buy it with the car.

Some are delaying the hard top because they want removable t-top panels. Still waiting for this one...

It's interesting to me how much the price varies if you get the top with the car or not. It would seem like this makes the hard top vulnerable to the aftermarket options on the way. Is there something about the top that makes it hard to produce? Maybe it has to be very precisely dimensioned to avoid wind/water issues or something. My dealer says they are not yet available. Could it be that some of the quotes involve dealers selling take-off tops from already ordered cars? And adding on repaint charges?

Consider it sold!

I'll have to repaint it to Saffron Yellow though, so if an ardent guy wants it, sell it to him over me.

>>>ok stan. i think we dont live far apart. when i finally get my car its yours. did you get your car at HRM?<<<

I sure did get my car at HRM...Mark and staff are excellent! I was there yesterday picking up some bits and saw the HRM special edition posted about elsewhere. It came out great! I'm in the Ridgefield vicinity near Danbury so yes we are nearby.

BTW I expect to be autocrossing my Elise on Sunday at Orchard Beach in the Bronx, NYC. Stop by if you'd like...with any luck I can take you out on a run.
