I currently have 225's Falken's on the rear, and wanted to get a pair of R1R's, but was really hoping to get a little wider tire in the back.
Problem is I only have a 7.5 SSR on the rear, and was wondering if it would make any difference (traction, treadwear, smoother ride, ect) if I put a 235 on it instead. Thoughts??

Also, has anyone fit a 235-45 or higher in the back without rubbing? I do have the sport edition (heard that makes a difference)?

LSS wheels are 16x6.5 front and 17x7.5 rear. 205/245 slip on just fine.
tire diameters for the R1R in these sizes are 23.2 front and 24.7 rear.

245s for me on 7.5s. No problems at all, but probably a bit more pinched than Ideal.

245's fit on a 7.5? wow, my 225's look like they fill it out with not too much left to squeeze on there. By height though, I meant the second number (235-40-17) wondering what would be the biggest height without rubbing

I guess the question that remains is; is there any benefits to increasing the width?

FWIW I run the 235/205 Dunlop Star Spec combo on LSS rims.

The rears in this case being 235/45/17s. Haven't experienced any issues yet. Although I have the rear wheel liners out as my car is still sort of a work in progress. I believe it is a common combination though and I don't think anyone has reported any issues.

I'm running Sumitomo HTR Z II tires. 205/45/16 front and 235/40/17 rear. I have the stock sport pack wheels (16x6.5, 17x7.5). The car feels a more planted then it did with the old tires, absolutely no complaints.
