Randy,
Did you have a problem of any kind bringing a non California car into California. I am considering jumping on an east coast car since Lotus can't or doesn't seem to want to bring any to the west coast. You can PM me if you like...

CA DMV still made me do a smog check.
Really? That's weird. The emissions sticker on the engine compartment states it has CA-compliant emissions. Additionally, smog checks are not required on new cars for a few years (4?).

I too was required to get a CA smog check
You purchased out of state ? and other than that got no hassles. Where did you pay sales tax ? I understand thats all Calif really wants is their money.

Hi -
I got mine out of state and brought it into CA. At the DMV they checked the sticker under the engine cover, took the vin and mileage, took my check for the taxes, then told me to come back with a smog check. I got it smogged (at SVAG Lotus in the bay area) then took it back to the DMV. They gave me my registration and license plates on the spot.
