Got rear-ended the other day.

1990 Dodge Ram Van...didn't have any insurance on her...van was full of garbage..and had no liscense plates on it..front OR rear.

KICK ASS!! Called her insurance company....she had insurance...OR DID till 3 days before she rear ended me.

She says she didn't see my car..my Chrome Orange Exige....we were in bumper to bumper traffic.

Why can't anyone in a Audi..or maybe a new Maybach ever hit me? Why is it always the scum of the earth?

On a similar note..although she had no plates and no insurance card..I did recieve a ticket the other day for an "illegal lane change"...didn't use my signal.

LIfe isn't fair..but does it have to be so damn annoying.

Good news is it's just scratches and such on the paint..I just hope those scratches and "bulges" in the paint aren't because the fiberglass is hosed underneath.

Can we PLEASE link up this LAW to carry insurance with some STICKER that goes on..say...YOUR LISCENESE PLATE.....?.

SOMETHING

ANYTHING

It's such a sham..if I have to claim this on MY insurance I'm gonna be screwed....

That's what I get for driving on streets I guess...stupid me.

The way i see it, you cant be worried about it...

End of last year my dd got wiped off the road by a van. If he was a second slower he would've hit my driver side door, the car was totaled. As soon as it happened, the two hispanic guys got out of the van and ran away. Cops never caught them. There was a 24pack of beer opened left in the passenger side of the van.

I get pulled over for rolling a stop sign at 2mph at 3am :wallbang:

PS: sorry about the car man, hopefully its just scratches and nothing major.

Stereotypes have a nugget of thuth in there somewhere, whether or not anyone wants to admit it.

Stereotypes are the result of numerous occasions of the same type of behavior happening over and over enough so that it becomes associated with a particular type of person. Stereotypes don't just happen overnight and they usually don't come about out of nothing. However, they aren't set in stone and just because someone drives a certain kind of car, has a certain skin color or dresses a certain way, doesn't necessarily mean they are a certain kind of person. Personally, i'd contact a lawyer and find out if theres a way to pursue civil charges against this person. Maybe if they lose that truck in court they might learn to pay attention when driving next time. The reason you don't get hit by Gallardos, Maybachs and Bentleys all the time is because usually people who accumulate that amount of wealth do so because they work hard, care about what they have and generally dont want to see anything happen to their expensive cars. There are exceptions (the spoiled rich kid types with everything thrown at them, for example) but generally this is the case.

Now im sure someone will chime in about how they were hit by a drunk driver in a Rolls Royce, in an attempt to argue against my point.

VA doesn't have a law requiring insurance coverage. One can pay $500 to the DMV for the "uninsured driver's fee" and be done with it. If you have no assets, a POS car, and a poor driving record (or are perhaps even un-insurable), guess which is cheaper -- insurance premiums or $500.

Seriously?!? And they probably justify it as "freedom" ... freedom to be irresponsible.

Where does the $500 fee go to? I'm sure it can't make much of a dent in the damages these uninsured people cause. No pun intended.

When ever I see a sh!t box car behind me I change lanes. People with good cars care more.

And yes like Cardinal said, all stereotypes exist for a reason.

It's theorized by psychologists that people with higher intelligence quotient react quicker and therefore get into less accidents on the average.

Intelligence quotient is pretty highly correlated with education type in the U.S., which is highly correlated with job type and income, which is fairly highly correlated with the kind of car you drive (not completely sure about this last one, but just an educated guess). So that may be why idiots in POSes hit you more than presumably smart people in Maybachs.

Oh, and Maybachs are often chaffeur driven, so that could play a part too :p

You don't know the half of it. rotfl
I live in CT...few MA plates here...But all too often i say to myself " is this guy from Mass. or what?" Then upon seeing his tag ...uh ya he is. They are worse than the DWO's we have...(another stereo type with *just* a grain of truth). I miss driving in England. They knew how to drive!!!

I can't stand the drivers from Rhode Island. Is traffic being held up by a Caddy doing 40 on the highway? Yep, he's from R.I.

Whats a DWO?

That's why the psychologists should leave the exercise physiology to those of us that are exercise physiologists. :p

Reflex and reaction time really doesn't vary much from individual to individual. You or I probably have very similar reaction times to that of a professional athelete. A smarter individual could just be paying better attention I suppose.

I was hit by a drunk driver in a Mercedes SUV in Beverly Hills.

http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f157/just-got-hit-drunk-driver-beverly-hills-45303/

She only had $5,000 in property damage coverage on her Mercedes.

Geico presumably sued her for the rest of the $30k in damage done to my car.

In L.A., I'm sure there are tons of people rolling around in expensive cars with little or no insurance.

The theory is that they process the information quicker and therefore can act on it quicker. Physical reflexes are only part of it.

Uninsured motorist coverage is on avg about $10/year. I am amazed that a lot of people don't have it.

+1 on the comments that most of the time you will get hit by a POS. My Mercedes had a bulls eye on it I swear. Every scumbag in a rust can was aiming for me daily.

Another reason to join them - nothing more liberating than driving a POS.

When I moved from TX to SD, my insurance dropped by over 50%--no exaggeration. I assume that's from all the uninsured drivers down there.

..on a side note, I did get rear ended in the Rapid City SD mall parking lot by an uninsured driver (a F****** PARKING LOT!) but I won't describe the douche-bag so as not to feed the stereo types lol.
