Checked with them last Friday, was told they had delivered seven, number eight is on the way and my car is next in line and they will notify me when they are invoiced. I was in the first "batch" of orders placed and earlier this summer was told between July & October to expect my car. Steve thinks we are still in line for October. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed, it looks like the my wait is about over. Where you in the first batch of orders? Hopefully we will both get our cars in October!

i was told i was #11 then much later i was told i was #13 but i was in the "second batch" i have also been given the july thru oct date. it did just occur to me they never have said what year:huh: good luck
I am #16 at Behlmann's. As of about a week ago, I received an e-mail from Steve stating he had no specific information regarding my order; still speculating a late Oct/Nov delivery date. However, at LOG 24, LCU management stated that all dealerships are getting a first notification of the build date aprox. 8 weeks before the car is scheduled to be built. I mentioned this to Steve and he claimed no knowledge of this but did indicate that Gary Hagen (our Regional Sales Rep) has a master list that he is in the process of sorting and distributing to the dealerships. Steve thinks this may give him information on the status of cars in groups 1 & 2. At this point, I have placed a call to Gary Hagen at LCU and left him a voice message to see if I can get some/any information on the status of my order. If my order is in the que, but has not been built, I'm not sure why I wouldn't have the option of reconfiguring my color choice, etc. if I so desired. When I asked Steve this question, he indicated that once the order is placed no changes can be made, yet I'm aware of others who have made changes, albeit not at this dealership.

If you refer yourself to the July memo posted by John English (I believe it is on the gg.lotus.org site), he states that the
orders (first wave) originally expected to be completed with regard to delivery by
Sept., 04 would now not be completely
received at dealerships until the end of October. Therefor, 'second wave' orders
can't be expected until at least end of November (I would assume) and more like end of December.
i also have asked them about the 6-8 week build date thing" a few weeks ago" and they said they hadnt recieved any updates in months. and somthing about lots of cars at the docks and mine was probably already built bla bla bla. it cant be that hard to actually find out. im supposed to get a car in less than 1 month and still dont know anything for sure.
Hogfan,

I too have been told that 650 cars have been built and are in the US, and Steve speculated that my car may also already been built and sitting in port.

Not to shoot holes in Steve's speculation, but through the efforts of another indvidual, I had contacted a Lotus Rep. at Hethel and he basically conveyed that he didn't see me on their build list (this was back in mid-Sept.) Hypothetically, doing the math: knowing your on the build list aprox.8 weeks before the build date and adding shipping and delivery time of 6-8 weeks on top of this, I'm, not sure that I don't have a 14-16 week wait. If I had to guess, I believe Behlmann will get there final three cars in the first group (cars #8,#9, & #10) by 10/31; then 3-4 cars a month in Nov & Dec. Given that orders are not processed in numeric order, as #16, I may not see my car until Jan '05. Hence my consternation, like you, I have been told my car may already be in port, thus a large disconnect between my expectations (set by the dealership) and reality relative to what has been released by LCU in communiques, presentations. etc. In the end, I would be much more confortable and less frustrated knowing an end date (even if it's in Jan) as opposed to a week-to-week speculation. This would help me better plan for all the activities that have to be coordinated to take delivery of the car; and in my case I'm paying cash for the car. Hence, I have placed a call to Gary Hagen to try and get a substantive answer.

I don't know about 650 built and in the US. I was given info that my car was built and shipped/delivered to the UK port on 9/21. The VIN is in the 520-540 range. Maybe they are building the VINs out of sequence.

I don't believe my car is in the US yet. I would expect it on US soil by early next week at the latest. And delivery to my dealer by the end of October.

My dealer, Star Motors was notified about 8 weeks before the build and in fact they were very close on the build date. Lotus faxes a build code and date to the dealers, I have seen such a fax, not for mine but another car.

that poses the question has behlmans ever notified anyone of a build date or do they just call them topick up the car. i apologize for posing thes ? here but i always hear the same story from dealer. and dont see how my car could arrive in oct like they say if it hasnt been built yet
I actually talked to Steve yesterday wondering about build date etc stuff. He still projects my car in Dec (#20) and he did mention that they had one on the way and that they had delivered seven. This is well in line with his statement this summer that he expected 10 cars by october and then 6/month after that. So far everything has added up and on the projected schedule he's layed out (and that itself is saying a lot considering everything that's been going on.) I'm comfortable about the Dec delivery date (but mentally ready for a delay.) But hey, it's december in midwest, what would I do with it anyway?
Update:

Received a call from Steve Brown yesterday. He said that yesterday they received the invoice on my car and that they have been recieving cars 10-14 days from that point!:D It's hard to believe that THE DAY could soon be here!!!! Woohoo
What number are you?
You St. Louis Area guys (and any other Lotus enthusiasts) keep October 24th open!

What's Oct 24th? Right now it's an autocross event for me, but that may change if there's Lotus stuff going on.
I received an email from Steve Brown earlier this week. I am #26 and he said that my car will be built in December and will take 5 weeks to get here. Can I get snow chains as a dealer installed option?
I can hold your car for you in St. Louis until spring. But since letting a car sit for too long isn't good I'll have to drive it around from time to time when there's no snow and ice on the roads.:D
