Hogfan,
I too have been told that 650 cars have been built and are in the US, and Steve speculated that my car may also already been built and sitting in port.
Not to shoot holes in Steve's speculation, but through the efforts of another indvidual, I had contacted a Lotus Rep. at Hethel and he basically conveyed that he didn't see me on their build list (this was back in mid-Sept.) Hypothetically, doing the math: knowing your on the build list aprox.8 weeks before the build date and adding shipping and delivery time of 6-8 weeks on top of this, I'm, not sure that I don't have a 14-16 week wait. If I had to guess, I believe Behlmann will get there final three cars in the first group (cars #8,#9, & #10) by 10/31; then 3-4 cars a month in Nov & Dec. Given that orders are not processed in numeric order, as #16, I may not see my car until Jan '05. Hence my consternation, like you, I have been told my car may already be in port, thus a large disconnect between my expectations (set by the dealership) and reality relative to what has been released by LCU in communiques, presentations. etc. In the end, I would be much more confortable and less frustrated knowing an end date (even if it's in Jan) as opposed to a week-to-week speculation. This would help me better plan for all the activities that have to be coordinated to take delivery of the car; and in my case I'm paying cash for the car. Hence, I have placed a call to Gary Hagen to try and get a substantive answer.
